Termination

If you were terminated by Cedar Point during one season, can you apply and get hired for the next season? I was terminated for my own stupid fault, but I had so much fun and I really miss working there. I want to come back next year sooooo bad. What are my chances???????

if you were terminated...chances are NO. But why would you want to go back and work at the place that fired you?

a little funny that im the one to say that...

I was fired for something outside of cedar point and it was my fault. I don't blame them for doing so, that is why I want to go back, I really liked my job. If it had to do with cedar point I wouldn't go back. Oh, I remember hearing about your termination earlier in the season, my firing had much more reasons than yours. They were very stupid for firing you for that, they seem very strict for some reason.

It isn't impossible to get rehired after being designated a "No Rehire" but it isn't easy either. And, that all depends to some degree on what you did which you haven't divulged. So, I can't be of much help unless you tell us what you did.

I remember when I worked there in 99, one of my crew members was given a phone card from his friend. Come to find out, the phone card was stolen and CP fired my crew member for it.

It really sucked, we hated to see him go.

The best advice I can give is either call or visit HR, most times things can be worked out there. It also helps if you can contact you prior silver tag. It's always good to have previous and current supervisors support you.

Neil,

Cp fired you for writing on a door with a Dry-Erase marker?

or is it what you wrote that got your fired?

contact me via AIM (screen name is neilface) if you want to hear the story....pointbuzz mods dont like us discussing why we got fired because no one cares i guess

Ok, there are No Rehires because of something so bad as to warrant a never and there are No Rehires that an Area Manager might designate because of the heat of the moment, frustration, etc that, after some time to cool off, might have been hasty decisions.

In the best case scenario, a No Rehire might be changed to a Conditional Rehire and then some serious discussion would ensue (more than likely with a different department) if you should be given another chance.

In many cases a No Rehire will remain a No Rehire but there are exceptions to every rule. As I have said before, the best way to approach it is to be honest, contrite, and try to keep your emotions at bay when you get a chance to talk about it.

thanks chief. they labeled my cousin a non-rehire because he left the park for a few days to be with his fiance because she was sick and he told them he'd return but he didn't because she passed away.

Ok, now if I was designated a non-rehire do they tell you that?? All they told me is that my case warranted immediate termination, they said nothing about being a non-rehire. Would I have to ask HR?Oh, and sorry Jeff is this is not a topic you like to have on pointbuzz, but i'm confused and thought this is the best place to go. Thanks

You are looking for information about your status (like what it means, and how to get rehired if you can). That, I would imagine, is fine because this thread is still open.

Now, if you came on here whining about being fired and complaining about management and throwing a big fit about it, you'd find your thread closed or deleted.

Welcome to the boards, hopefully you'll be around for a while.

Well, common sense does not always prevail but it seems to me that if an employee left because his fiance got sick and died there might be an understanding that could be reached at the Department or HR level. But, sometimes there is more to the story that what we are told so you can't discount that.

To find out your status, simply call the HR department. Terminated employees aren't necessarily told what they rehire status is but I can't think of too many cases where an immediate termination wouldn't warrant a No Rehire status.

I had awesome managers when I worked there in 99. My grandpa was very sick and doctors were not giving him long to live. I was gone for 10 days, but I called in EVERY DAY and updated my supervisors. My job was still there when I returned. And I didn't get any hassle from Park Ops, they were really awesome about it.
