Taxes

I will be a Cedar Point employee for the summer of 2000, at least I think I will be. Just have to sign the contract. Anyways, I was wondering if someone could tell me how much was taken out of their checks from taxes or if they could just tell me how much they made and then how much they received at the end of the week (or whenever you get your check). And how much you paid for housing a week (and any other strange fee that they take out of each check). Thanks a lot, look forward to seeing you all this summer!

They take out a lot of tax! Federal, Social Security, a Med. tax, State, and a City tax. This will be slightly different whether or not you live in Ohio or a neighboring state and if you are claiming a '0' or '1'. (I claim a 0.. and since I don't live in a neighboring state, I had all the tax deductions)
For example, last summer the starting wage was $5.25 an hour..and if you work 50-55 hours, you could earn approximately $180-$200 (give or take some...I don't have an exaxt figure) this includes $24 a week deduction for housing. OnPoint housing has a deduction of $16.80.

But that will be higher this summer since starting wages wil be $6.25! And don't forget about that bonus...my bonus for last year was over $500!! (after taxes)

Taxes depend on what you claim on your taxes. 1,2,3 etc... So you really cant base it on what they took out of mine.

But this is what you asked for:

I worked 78.3 hours one week
Gross Pay = 442.40
Fed Income tax took 50.77
SS tax took 27.43
Medicare took 6.41
State took 11.51
City took 4.42
Rent for my room was 16.80 (cheapest there is that i know)

And My NET PAY was $325.06

But being that i was bored outta my mind i figurred out that i get on average 74.6% of my take home.

This is all done based on a 5.65 per hour, which was my starting rate as a Foods Sup last year.

And just to note this is also based on me claiming 1 on my taxes

I will be claiming O dependents and I will probably have to pay out of state taxes. I am not sure how the out of state thing works. Can anyone help???
I know the lower the number the more they take out :)
Yea, but you also get more back in the end with lower numbers. :-)
I thought I heard that the neighboring states of Ohio did not have to pay state tax. But this could just be a rumor... ;)

I used to be a resident of PA and I didn't have to pay Ohio state tax at CP. BUT be careful, if your state is PA (or like it) you'll end up owing them at tax time. 2 years ago, I think I owed PA about $150 from my summer wages.

Well, does anyone know how much people end up bringing home (on average)? After housing payments, food expenses, entertainment, etc. is taken out... Thanks again!

All depends on how many hours you work.

TAke your hourly rate and divide it by roughly 74% and then multiply it by how many hours you want to work.
Is is easy to save money while you're there, or do people go out every night??? I need to save some money for school next year (and Spring Break!) and am wondering if you spend a lot...
If you want to save, than do things in the park more on your free time. In other words don't go to the mall or movies. Stay in the point for cheeper housing, go to the movie nights sponsered by the ESD(employee services department), and ride the rides instead of doing things off point. This will save you alot of cash in the long run. Also, alot of people go out to the bar every night. This can put a big dent in your savings if you go alot. My suggustion is, go to the free ESD events and save.

What I do is send every other paycheck home. That way, I can manage my money. If you do go out, be careful where you go and who you go with.
