Taking Showers at Commons and Bayside

I was just wondering what the showering locations are like off point. I know from living on point last summer that the shower situation was rather interesting. In fact I would go to the private ones located at the ends of the halls. I was just wondering becasue I plan on living off point this season. The water pressure was really good in the private ones. The one i n the main showering room had no control over how to control the temperture, not to mention the pressure was rather weak. I remember in early May being cold and having to take a cold shower with weak water pressure.
I'm also living off point this year. And from what I've heard, each appartment has it's own bathroom and shower. Some units in commons even have two bathrooms and showers because of the amount of people living there(6-10). Hope this helps.

ok, in Bayside, each apartment which holds 8 people has a bathroom with a real bathtub. In each commons apartments which hold 16 people there are 2 bathrooms with a standup shower in it. In commons dorms however there is a group shower on each floor. Each one of those has 4 or 5 private shower stalls.

I thought the water pressure was fine in the commons apartments...and a handful of times did I ever find there being no hot water left.

I love looking at everyone's perception of housing ... especially how many people live in each dorm room or apartment ( Eveyone seems to have their own number!) When recruiting, I like to be very specific about housing so there are no surprises and no misconceptions.. forgive me for making a few corrections: Bayside has between 3 - 9 people living in an apartment ( depending on how big the apartment is). The 3 person apartments are usually reserved for Married Housing ( at which point they become 2 person apartments :). If not used for Married Housing they are sometimes assigned to Supervisors or assigned at request of a VP. They have 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom. The 5 - 7 person apartments have 2 - 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The 9 person apartments have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Commons apartments havent had 6-10 people living in them for years. Not sure they ever did. When I lived there many many years ago it was 12 people. I know they know have 16+ people ( could be more this year!) in an apartment. Two bathrooms. Most dorm rooms have 2 people per room, though some have 3 - 4. Community bathrooms.
My goodness 16 people in an apartment. Is there enough room to hold that capacity. That seems like an awful lot of people to share the same living area. Just hope some of those 2 people ones are open.hahaha..

Jenn,

Of course you are forgiven. Everyone makes mistakes that they wish they didn't do because sometimes it comes back to get them in the end. I always thought there were 8 people in bayside. 4 people in commons dorm rooms? i do remember that, yes. i know they have 4 people rooms at Cedars. More than 16 in the apts? man it was crowded in there with 16!!!

In my era there were "only" 10 people to a Commons apartment. We had two bathrooms that were disgusting to say the least.

When you live in the Commons apt. you all are responsible for cleaning up the bathrooms and the apt.. And the 16 roomates may seem crowded but it's separate rooms A-E which hold 3-4 people in each. Most the time you have so many roomates coming in and leaving that you usually don't always or even have 16.

What is the shower situation like at Cedars?

The fact that there are 16 people living in the Commons apartments with two bathrooms that YOU HAVE TO CLEAN YOURSELF is more than enough reason not to live in Commons apartments!!! Don't do it! Your bathroom will be the most disgusting place ever in less than a week. Don't bring valuables with you because they are likely to get stolen in the apartments.

Trust me, people - live in Commons Dorms. Bathrooms are cleaned every day by the custodians. Some of the shower heads are awful, but shop around until you find a good one - some are actually pretty awesome! Three to four people in one room is not that bad. 99% of the time you are in your room, you will be asleep, anyway, and that's usually the only time all of you will be in the room. There are two bunk beds so there is plenty of floor space to walk around.

Brian, who will be living in Commons dorms for the third summer in a row :)

The showers at Cedars are four shower heads on a post with cubicle walls separating them. There are benches outside of each stall for your stuff. Quality of water pressure and cleanliness vary.

So my husband and I could live together there instead of driving the 30 minutes back and forth each day? I mean we both have jobs for this summer and even my younger brother is staying in housing.

I am not even going to touch the Cedars shower question. Got in trouble last time I did. In Commons 1400 I thought over all the showers were not that bad. I mean yeah there was a black mold outbreak on floors 2 and 3 and yeah some people are slobs and leave it less then clean. However like said, there are people who clean it everyday. Just try not to time it when they are there.
