Sweet spot - your thoughts?

How much are the candy apples? The basic candy apples at Disney are $6ish and the character faces/sugar coated ones are $10....

We love the SS! And as far as fudge goes, it is my experience based on what's available to me that it is most definitely NOT overpriced. In my area I have Malley's Chocolates and a few other local confectioners, and their fudge is more expensive than what CP charges. As far as the prices for the Rice Krispie Treat bars and the candy apples -- the portions on those more than make up for the price. The only thing I think could count as over priced is cotton candy. That sugar is cheap. But, it's cotton candy! What's summer fun without cotton candy?

Now, a regular Hershey Bar in one of the gift shops for $1.75? Yeah, that's over priced. But, that select flavor, freshly made fudge? Nope. :)

Regular Hershey bars here in Wisconsin at gas stations are $1.69, so not out of line, but still way too much for garbage that is barely able to legally be called chocolate.

The Sweet Spot is not overpriced by any means given the quality and the quantity you get, that combined with PP Discount its actually a good deal.

My friend and I bring cheaper candy into the park, like gummy worms (she loves 'em) sometimes and other snacks that coast maybe.....$3.00 or less. CP sells the SAME junk, same quality (if not as good sometimes) for about $5 or more.

You pay for the convenience because they can and they will charge as much as they want. Yet people pay anyway because they're too lazy to leave the park. I'm not bashing anyone on here, or in general, but that's how they grab your $$$.

The candy in the CP store looks pretty decent quality wise, yet not worth that price. I have gotten candy that tasted great at other stores with reasonable prices.

Most of the candy and fudge looked good, but not more than average candy/fudge at other places. it might be worth the price if they used special high quality ingredients like for example, fine German chocolate/imported candy or something.

and 10$ is waaaaayyyy too high for a candy apple.......just sayin, even for Disney

They don't charge as much as they want, they charge as much as most people are willing to pay.

I don't think it's a question of laziness, it's a question of convenience.

That said, I generally don't eat in parks. Aside from Dole Whip at Disney. Or when someone else is paying :-)

I'm pretty sure Cedar Point doesn't allow you to bring food into the park.

Well Security Theatre doesn't pose much of an obstacle.

Oh, for the good old days, when the picnic shelters were inside the park and you could tote your picnic basket, stuffed with food, into the park...

If one is wearing cargo shorts, bags of candy (or candy put into Ziploc bags), and other snacks for that matter, could be shoved into the pockets, where they'd never be found :-)

Circumventing the rules doesn't mean they stop existing.

Honestly, there is a difference between bringing in a baggie full of gummy bears or trail mix vs carting in a cooler filled with an entire meal.

I see nothing wrong with bringing in a ziplock of snacks to hold you over, esp if you have little kids who need a snack or two. I do see the point of not bringing in full coolers....but, we normally do enjoy heading to the car to sit down, have lunch, take a break, before heading back inside. Besides, I would not want to cart a full cooler with me all day.

I sometimes enjoy the Walking Tacos as an option at Cedar Point, but I prefer taco sauce to the salsa that they put on them, so I sometimes come to the park with several packets of sauce from taco bell in my pockets and get the Walking Taco sans salsa then add my own sauce to it. Would that be considered circumventing the rules? LOL just asking!

I really wonder how much a problem there is with cooler snatching or pilfering at the shelters? I am sure it happens but how often? In 5 seasons of stashing souvenir bottles I only had 1 stollen and that was at a SF water park. Didn't let it bother me.

I wouldn't bring an expensive 5 day cooler but a cheaper $20 Coleman on sale or even a styrofoam with a bungee cord even if stolen 1 out of 10 visits wouldn't bother me that much. Still would save a ton of money even with that loss.

I get the meal plan mostly because I prefer a hot (or at least somewhat warm) meal over cold, don't like going car and about half my trips are to KI and they don't have that option (I believe).

I've had a cooler taken before. Was a cheap cooler and wasn't a big deal but having to feed the family that day was. I haven't left a cooler out since then. When I was a kid we had some food stolen from our cooler that my dad chained to the table.

I found blueberry cheesecake fudge at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania today. It's strange how when I ask Cedar Point if they have this, they say it's seasonal. Does anyone know if this flavor would just randomly pop up in sweet spot?

Dorney gets all the other parks' fudge that is at the end of it's service life.

I wish CP's Sweet Spot had the giant chocolate chip cookies like they have at KI's. They're the closest thing to the bakery on Main Street at Disney World/Land I have found, and I wish CP had them.

I was also at Dorney with Shawn and I found cinnamon bun fudge there. I wish they had this at SS. I also agree with selling cookies there. Since CJ's appears to be gone, I can't think of anywhere else you can get cookies.

I picked up a couple at Subway over the weekend for .99 each. They have overpriced cookies in the case at Starbucks, and I saw some large individually packaged cookies at the cash register at the new restaurant at Cedar Point Shores, though didn't catch the price. I do get the craving often for a big cookie while at the park so I'm definitely going to miss the selection they used to have. I don't really want to head over to the water park just for a big cookie now and then, and will likely stick with Subway for this fix. If someone from CP reads this, please find a new home for the big cookies. I especially like frosted ones during Halloweekends, even if the frosting is a little too sickly sweet.

With July coming up at the end of this week, anybody been in sweet spot and noticed blueberry cheesecake fudge? Just curious.
