I bet it was atleast (somewhat) of a safety concern. Seems like it would be pretty easy to slip out of one of those cabins.

When Dorney took down Hercules they sent one of the trains to MIA for parts to Shivering Tinbers and Wildcat. I believe the other two trains are still at Dorney.

I can understand keeping stuff for parts, but I think I've seen several old motors from flats back there that looked rusted well beyond use.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
The cars in the boneyard are from a fixed grip chairlift, not a detachable grip gondola like the Sky Ride. They absolutely would not work on the Sky Ride, they are totally incompatible.
I think they are from Dorney, I remember being at Dorney when the sky ride was in operation and it looks identical.
