Sunglasses?

Does anyone know the parks policy on wearing sunglasses? i am wondering because i have a pair of transitions lenses and they change automatically in sunlight.

I don't think there is any rule against it. I've seen employees wearing glasses when they were at the beginning of the line. They were stuck in the sun at the time too.

But don't quote me on this. Someone else could answer better.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

The rule book says no "reflective" sun glasses. This is one of those rules that aren't really enforced unless they're really cracking down since I worked there.

I plan on getting a nice pair of sunglasses before I start. Power Tower very exposed and I can only imagine how many times I'll be looking up 300 feet or so. :)

I don't know that there's much they could do about someone who has prescription eye-wear with transitions lenses. I wouldn't worry too much about it or check with your supervisor when you check in so that he's aware of it from the start. Then if someone complains, he already knows you have transitions lenses.

One of my co-workers last season had the transitions lenses, and supervision didn't have a problem with it. I'd definitely inform them of it, though, as there are certain positions where you are not supposed to have sunglasses. The basic rule is that sunglasses are permitted at most entrance/crowd positions, and prohibited at most platform positions. This is especially true if you are working a covered/shaded platform (such as Millennium Force). Check with your TL, too. Every ride is a little different.

It all depends if your supervisor is having a good day. I had a pair of mirrored aviators that i wore on platform at millennium pretty much every single day. I think I was told to take them off one time the entire season. If you're at entrance they won't say anything to you at all as long as you're doign your job.

I believe it's non reflective with dark frames. So hot pink mirror sunglasses might be out of the picture. :) I thought that sunglasses were permitted for any outside position in the park, I mean, you have to protect your eyes from UV rays.

Thanks for the help. Thats too bad about the hot pink shades, i was really looking forward to buying a pair of those

They must be able to see your eyes through the lenses is all. I wore Oakleys last year and nobody said anything to me. And you could def not see my eyes. They do have sunglasses in wardrobe available.
