Sunday Sunday Sunday (Opening Day)

Sunday May 4 FINALLY arrived and just in time to satisfy my coaster jones. It was bad this winter and I needed to scream and let it all out. I arrived at 8 because I had a VIP ride slot with a Pepsi promo. After a opening ceremony and ribbon cutting they fired up the ride and off she went screeching into the sky. When this thing launches it gives me chills. It is so tall and so fast that it really shakes me inside and almost calls for me to drop to my knees and bow before it. Intense ride is all I can say about it. It has speed, height, power, airtime, twirls and an awesome decor...what more can a coaster enthusiast ask for? It is perfect in every way and VERY fulfilling. You leave the ride satisfied which is something I did not expect considering the length. As Tim said in his MD TR it is a Grand Slam.

After a 45 minute wait for Dragster I went to Millennium Force for a quickie on my baby. She was running nice for a cold morning, although only a 2 train operation. Following the powerful ride on Dragster, Millennium Force seemed slow when it zoomed by the queue. I wondered if the whole ride would seem slow but my doubts were quickly shot down when I rode it. It now shares my favorite ride spot with Dragster, but Millie is still my baby.

Then I went to the back of the park and hit the Mine Ride and the Magnum. Magnum was a very welcome treat after a long off-season. Although it is aging it still provides one of the best rides in the park. A trip to Cedar Point isn't complete without a ride on the Red Mile. After Magnum we were hungry so we went to grab a bite at Midway Market.

After that I went to meet my coaster bud Eric for some rides on Magnum, Demon Drop and Blue Streak before our 3 pm meeting at Raptor Jo's spot.

Raptor was kickn today and it felt awesome to kick the sky again! Raptor has the most satisfying sequence of elements - Awesome Drop, great loop and the heartline roll which gets me everytime. It was great to see Jo and Matt again but Jo - Where are my pics?!?! ;)

I called Mikey to see if he wanted to meet up but he had to jet early...we will have to catch eachother on the 13!

Then it was off for my other appointment of the day - 4pm at Magnum to meet Dan. While it was a short meeting it is always fun to see Dan in his natural habitat :) Next time though lets ride Magnum!

It was nice to see Chris Moore over my Magnum, however minus our buddy Kristen who thinks X at MM is better then Dragster. ;)

So Eric and I then went on the train back to Millennium Force to check out the wait but we opted to skip it and went to Iron Dragon, Magnum once more and then I had to leave.

It was a great day all around. It is always so nice to get back to Cedar Point after a long off-season. Everything seems so new and alive. So everyone come up on Tuesday May 13 and lets meet up!

Good to see you too Eric...I only wish my Opening Day experience could have been longer. You actually caught me exiting the park after an entire hour and a half there. Yes, I came in, met up with the gang, used an exit pass on Dragster, and then rode Magnum and left.

Oh, and finals suck.

My friend was so anxious to ride a coaster that two weeks before CP opened, we drove to PKI so he could calm his coaster craving and because Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 wasn't helping anymore. He stayed at my house and we rode the Vortex twice, Racer backwards once, the Beast four times, the Son of Beast once, Face-Off once, Top Gun twice, Adventure Express twice, and Delirium, a Huss giant frisbee, three times. He was so insane the whole day. Oh well. I guess when someone has a craving they need to calm it.
Yea Chris I wish u could have stayed longer also...your fun to be stuck in a queue with :)

BTW - Majin Heero...Wish we could have met up. That Dragster line will get ya ;)

I Feel The Need, The Need For Speed - Top Gun

When I rode it at 10ish only 2 trains were in operation. Yellow was on the transfer.

Yeah, yellow was still on the transfer just before 11 when I rode the first time round... then when we came back - we were ON the yellow train at 2 via "FreeWay!"
