Sunday Sept. 30 Great day with fellow PointBuzzers

I wasn't going to write a TR but I'm sitting here with nothing better to do so here we go. I got up bright (actually it was dark) and early at 6:30 to get to the park for ERT. I took this trip solo. After a trouble free drive I got into the park around 9:15. I parked in the Soak City and didn't know what I should go to for ERT. I ended up going to Raptor and regretted parking in the Soak City lot. Oh well.

When I got up there I was glad to see she was running 3 trains. There weren't many people around. My first ride was in the back, second ride in the front (only person on the train), and on the third ride I got to meet Raptor Jo (LuvRaptor) and her husband. The next two rides I was with them and after that the gates were open to the public so that was my queue to head to another ride. I was going to catch a few on Magnum but decided to stop at TTD because the like was just in the station. I waited about 15 minutes to ride. Good ride.

After that I made it to Magnum and caught a couple of rides. The first ride was trimless and great. On the second ride our train was stopped on the lift hill because a man had his camera out. The man and his family felt really bad because they didn't know it wasn't allowed. Maybe to me it's just logic that you don't have a camera out when you're 200 feet in the air and about to go 70mph, but hey, they were genuinly sorry. After Magnum I went to Gemini which was running red side. They were only loading one train, the other one still had the sandbags in it. After about 5 minutes I got on and had a good time.

I went over to Skyhawk after that and rode twice with no wait. I was going to go a third time but there was a one cycle wait so I went over to CCMR. I walked into the station and onto the train. I always like a nice ride on CCMR. By the way, how long have they been running two trains? I saw the third one in storage with the Gemini ones in Mean Streak. After CCMR I went over to Maverick which had a 45 minute wait. While waiting they announced that the ride was down temporarily because someone took out a camera and they made a pretty firm point that they would not tolerate it. When I got to the stairs I went up the single rider line and saved myself about 5 minutes. I rode the iron train in the second from back seat. Excellent as always, the 95 degree drop always gets me. After that I went over to Mean Streak and walked into the back seat. It was fine I guess.

I walked down the Frontier Trail wishing it was 9 o'clock on a Saturday night but it wasn't so I enjoyed it for what it was. I went to MF and waited about 25 minutes, while I was in line they put the third train on. I don't know why they wouldn't have opened with 3, Raptor and Magnum did. Anyway, it was a good ride as usual. I did grey out from the bottom of the hill to the turn onto the island. After the Force I went to Mantis and walked onto it. For a walk on it was a good ride. The crew was doing a great job. I got off Mantis and Judy K. was pulling into the station so I went to get on to take a full circuit because I was kinda tired. After a relaxing ride I took a stroll to the front of the park. I was going to stop at Wildcat but it was down and Iron Dragon had a longer than desirable line so I continued on my way.

I got to Blue Streak which had no line. I rode once and enjoyed myself quite a lot so I rode 3 more times. After I completed my mini Blue Streak marathon I met up with some PointBuzzers. First we went over to Pharoah's Secret. It was my first time through and my last. Nothing special at all. After that we went over to Lair of the Vampire. It was a bit better than Pharoah's Secret, but still nothing to shake a stick at. The tunnel though made it worth it. I need to get me one of those tunnels. It was around 3:30 by this time and we wanted to see the parade so we sat near Iron Dragon and Corkscrew to watch. It was great. The floats, the music, and the characters were all great. Nice work CP!

After a brief debate we got in line for Dragster. We waited about 20 minutes or half an hour and had a good time. When we got off and walked past the station we saw Tony and John Hildebrandt standing there. We went over and talked to Tony and he said if we waited around we would see the 1 millionth rider of the season. We waited about half an hour and saw the whole thing. Congrats to the crew!

After that we headed over near Magnum and didn't ride on account of Bryan's back so we headed back to Frontier Town and had a long debate on whether or not to ride Maverick. We didn't end up riding. At this point Bryan (Loopy) went home, Mark Small rode Maverick, and Josh (exit english), Adam (TTD 120mph), Schuyler (BGRooDoG), and I headed to Magnum. That was our last ride of the night. I headed home and the other three headed to Ghostly Manor in town (how was that guys?). I had a great day at the park and it was nice to meet everyone. See you again Closing Weekend.

Sorry it took so long for us to meet up, Vince. I thought you were going to call myself or Adam. We'll definitely meet earlier on closing weekend.

No worries. It was nice to walk around and ride whatever I wanted for a little while. Closing Weekend will be here sooner than we think.

We decided to skip Ghostly Manor since we were all tired and Josh wanted to get back to watch a Showtime Sitcom. We ate at Fazolis instead, which was delicious. I think we are going to try Ghostly Manor sometime closing weekend.

It was nice to just walk around the park and ride whatever, i was really not antsy to get on any rides. I really enjoyed the one Trio of Terror story reading we sat through. The guy does a wonderful job acting out his part. I recommend it to all, though be aware that the fog in there is heavy at times so if you have trouble breathing you may want to reconsider. I loved the fog though, really adds to the emotion.

Boobuzz is next for me!

Instead of doing my own TR Im just going to add to Vince's. Weather and crowd wise, we could not have picked a better day to hit the park. I am so used to Halloweekends being these miserable, gray, cold and rainy day, nothing of the sort for us!

Joe Cool on Raptor in the morning was awesome. I was shocked to see one of MFs tl's running Raptor only to find out later it's because they are way understaffed. I thought about being part of the Raptor crew again this season for 1/10th of a micro-second....nope ;)

We got to meet Vince, and he rode with us for 1 ride then the next ride he sat in the back, way away from us. I made a joke that it was because my hubby was Amish and he smelled :)
We got in 5 JC Raptor rides before the GP was let in. We never did get back to Raptor. Bummer :(

The funniest thing happened during Joe Cool. My phone rang and I saw it was my BFF Mel. I answered it and she said "I am so glad you answered, where is the shoe???" Shoe? What shoe? Im thinking Payless? I asked her wth she was talking about. Apparently the JDRF walk was that morning and they were all meeting at the Shoe (as in OSU Horseshoe) and she couldnt find it I told her I had NO clue where it was at. I no sooner hang up leave it to my hubby to say "I know where it is" (I should have known Mr Buckeye freak) but did he say anything when I was ON the phone?? NO!! :)
The good news is, Mel found the shoe!

We rode pretty much everything at our leisure. Our front car (trimless) Maggie ride was awesome. We had a 20 minute wait for TTD-fun but still not even close to being one of my favorites. As a matter of fact, I think that was the 1st time we've ridden it all season. I prefer rides that are longer than 17 seconds I guess.

Congrats to Magnum Jerry on his engagement!! He gave me the great news and I met his fiance on TTD's line. Asked her to marry him on Maggie's first hill. Go figure! :)

We must have been on Mavericks line the same time Vince was cause we were delayed thanks to some idiot taking a camera on the ride. Still worth the wait. I love that ride. I dont know if its the whole western/horse thing but I just love that ride, so does my hubby. I kept my arms up the whole ride which was a mistake because instead of my usual bruises on my forearms, my shoulders took quite the beating. I can't imagine why anyone was waiting the 45 minutes-1 hour for MF when Maverick totally kicks it's butt.

Skyhawk rocked, one of my fav flats. Love to hear the guy virgin riders scream like a girl :)

We banged into Mr Skyward by MF and when he saw it was me he stopped to talk to us. He had on a Skyhawk shirt! OMG! Anyway he started with the trying to touch me stuff again, hubby was freaking. I think he asked us where we were going, and I think he said he was going to Maverick. CP wouldnt be CP without Mr Skyward.

We ate at Johnny Rockets, think that will be the last time for that. It was almost $32.00-wth? Of course it doesn't help that we both get shakes and my hubby always gets the biggest and most expensive thing on the menu (he eats like a cow it is unbelievable, I dont know where the man puts it)
We opted to go there instead of Midway Market thinking THAT was too expensive. Wrong! Especially not the way my hubby eats. If Im telling you he gets 10 full loads of food at buffets, I am NOT lieing!

The only good thing about Johnny Rockets was we sat outside and I faced Raptor the whole time.

I waited all day for Vince to text me on where the Pointbuzzers were going to meet, never happened. Apparently he got my cell wrong or he's lieing and never text'd me ;)

My new tattoo got quite the attention all day, I lost count on how many people asked me about it. I'm getting more work done to it next week (adding the Space Spiral, rails and train on Raptor and possibly the sky ride) Dreading the extra Raptor work, it's almost right on my shin bone-ouch!

We left the park around 4ish. We had a great time. Halloweekends stuff looks great again this year! :)
Looking forward to our next trip, this Sunday it's KI for us.

Nice meeting you Vince! See you again soon Im sure! :)

And Vince is lying.

Glad you had a good time Jo. :) I didn't see Low Po!nts this time! ;)

THANKS, Jo!!
I really caught Leslie off gaurd! She was not expecting it at all.

It was a great weekend for us! I agree abou the weather. Couldn't have been better! She had never been to CP before. She flew up Wednesday to spend weekend with me. I made reservations for a cottagea couple of months ago.

Friday, we luckily got there early. It took almost half an hour just to get checked in! Got over to gate before 5pm for JC. She has a Worlds of Fun pass, so she had to sign in.

Everyone might find it hard to believe, but I skipped waiting for
Magnum to open! Having someone new to the park was worth skipping it. We went over and got a couple of Maverick rides. Gave the crew some Maverick buttons. Took her on back seat first. She loved it! Her first words at end of ride were "that was trippy!".

I hadn't tried MF this year. So, was afriad of not being able to ride. Saw Tony and talked to him in station. He said try blue train. That it had more forgiving belts. We waited for front seat and lucked out and got blue. It was tight but got it fastened. Luckily, she was not overly impressed with the ride. One of my biggest fears was she would love it and make me ride it a lot!

We then worked our up up and hit Wildcat and Iron Dragon. While on ID I noticed TTD's line was ramp only. We hustled over but it went down as we got there. I took her to Magnum finally. Got a couple of laps in. She did not like ejector seat! Bummer!

TTD was back up, so we put our stuff in locker to gain as much room as possible for belts. She was petrified to ride it. But getting off, she said "let's do it again"!

We worked our way up front and did Raptor a couple of times. Then we walked around a lot and I got her a CP sweatshirt. We did Maverick and Magnum more before closing. I wish I would have bought one of the on-ride photos on Magnum that night. The look on her face was priceless! She is not use to all that airtime! :)

Saturday, we started off with Maverick again. After one ride, the queue was filling up fast. So we did Skyhawk and Gemini before heading to Magnum. As we got to Magnum, saw my friends that showed up for the special occasion. They could only stay a couple of hours. So, I decided to do it first thing. I wanted to wait for front seat to get best picture. Terry sat behind us. After geting buckled in, I carefully got the ring out of waistpack without her seeing it. About halfway up lift, I turned around and got Terry's attention. Then I got Leslie's attention as well and proposed. She of course she said yes! Went to photo booth to get it. Asked them to put some text on it. We went back around and met up with Terry's husband and daughter, Thalia. We chatted for a while and then went to Camp Snoopy for Thalia to spend some time before having to leave. I suggested her riding Jr Gemini so Leslie could get the credit. They did. It was then about 2pm and they had to take off.

Park was getting pretty busy. So we ate at FD and walked around a lot. Hit Magnum up a few laps at end of night.

Sunday, we started out at Maverick again. We then did lap around park and got rest of coaster credits for her. After we got to TTD station, saw Jo and her husband. Chatted with her for a couple minutes. Showed me her new tat. BTW - shin bone is not too bad. But hurts like hell while healing. Will feel like massive sunburn!

Even got another Maverick ride before hitting Magnum one last time. Since we had to get up early morning for her flight, we left park about 6:30. Stopped by Meijer to pick up Toft's ice cream to take home.

It was a great weekend! As much as I hate to say it, it was nice to enjoy the whole park with somoeone instead of riding Magnum all day.

I will buy her and her daughter passes for next year since they will be moving up here next summer.

I, too, was at the Point on 9/30 (after not being able to visit for a couple of years mainly due to kids).

Talk about a great day - wow. Lines were very reasonable, and the weather was incredible!! Maverick was better than I expected - probably the best coaster in the park IMO, and that's obviously saying a lot. Also, I can now understand why they had to remove the inline loop; there's NO WAY riders could take the element as it was at that speed. Best surprise of the day: SkyHawk. It was by far the most comfortable and most fun flat I've ever ridden. I was disappointed that MaxAir was down, though.

We ate lunch at Famous Dave's and I'll continue to give kudos to this place. Good food, not that expensive, comfortable, etc. I don't think I'll eat anywhere else when I'm at the Point! Especially after reviewing the in-park food prices and what food you actually get!

I kept an eye out for any PointBuzzers/Coasterbuzzers I might recognize - and didn't see any. For some reason, I kept thinking I might recognize somebody from this site and say hi. Were any of you the "single riders" I saw continually sprinting from exit to entrance on MF?

All in all, another fantastic trip. I can't wait to go back!

Goodbye MrScott

John

THX, Jugga!

One thing I did forget to mention. Eating at FD's both days were much better than previous visits. This has been a bad season for them as far as service goes. Talking to one server Sunday, she said they realize they have had problems all season. But are learning from them. Hopefully next season goes smoother.

Congrats Jerry, what a cool story. I believe our group of pointbuzzers ended up sitting behind you on Magnum at around 7pm on Saturday. Nice new haircut ;)
