sunday closing day

for closing day, its going to be 50 and partly cloudy. i never been on closing day before, is it usally crowded?

The closing days Ive been to recently have not been busy. If the sun comes out, might bring in a few more local people. Dress for the weather , will be cold.

It's busy as hell today.

I just looked at the webcam (top of Dragster) and the parking lot is at least 80% full. And with the slightly warmer weather everyone will stay to 8pm close and try to leave at once! So I'm skipping closing day for the first time in awhile. :(

I thought it was really dead today! All a matter of perspective because we weren't riding big coasters. Also, we started at the back of the park then ended up at the front around 4 when a lot of people were already leaving. We got on a ton of rides and had an awesome day! It wasn't too cold out with the sun out :) I was so glad I made it for one last time this year, we had a great season!!!

It was one of the busiest closing days that I experienced in the past 10 years. However, the coaster lines weren't too bad considering how crowded it was. Early entry was not so great due to the cold weather, even Jr. Gemini valleyed. However, I got 16 laps on Jr. Gemini when my grandson and I marathoned it for a while. What a day...

Roz, it took me only about 5 to 10 min to exit the parking lot from the Marina at 8:30, it was a great closing day, weather was much better than I thought it would be.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It was supposed to be 20 mph winds and cloudy. It ended up being mostly sunny with little breeze, even skyride was running!

Lines were weird and atypical of a normal day. For instance, at 1PM, TTD and it had only a 10 minute line, the ramp was mostly empty. However at that same moment, MF was close to an hour. PT right next door was walk-on. An hour later, Maverick had a 90 minute wait. Raptor was long at one point, but then an hour later had a 10 minute wait. Point being, it was very hard to predict where to go, and when. We made the right decision starting in the back of the park today with Maverick. We seemed to miss crowds all day.

MaverickLaunch you hit the nail on the head! We had the same experience.

was only there for 2 hours,6:15-8:15. Did 2 Magnuns(no line) and 3 TTDs and then (by being 1st in the 'dead weight' line) got the last seat of the last train of the season of the TTD-mission accomplished.

^Ha! I was there for only two hours, too. "Single Rider" today, nobody wanted to go but me. I got two rides in. Waited an hour for MF and TTD which wasn't bad at all. I really wanted to ride MF because it had been a while. I thought it was a mild weather day compared to yesterday. I did not go Saturday. When I came in this evening, people were leaving so I was surprised when I saw how it was so busy.

Were you the one with the yellow hoodie that said "Single Rider" today? I saw someone with that on!

No, lol! But maybe someday I'll be putting one of those shirts on so I can start pushing people out of my way.

Most of the 'single riders' are pushy,I'm one of the 2 that isn't. I only go as a single rider on MF or TTD when called to go by platform crew.

WOW....what a beautiful day it was! Crowds were def more than I had expected, but nothing crowded. We just enjoyed having a nice sunny day in the park....now how long until May?

Of course, we'll be crossing fingers for a winter-time behind the scene tour! LoL

It depends on the year. I've been to closing days where you'd think the park had closed the day before and it's completely dead. I've been to closing days where it's a damn zoo.

That's how Fridays or Sundays are for Halloweekends. I went three weeks ago on a Friday and the place was a ghost town. One of my old coworkers went today and he said it was a zoo.

It actually was NOT a zoo, IMHO. A little busy earlier in the day, but nothing crazy. It was just a beautiful fall day, really enjoyed it. Sun was shining, just awesome. Am really going to miss it over the winter.

Is there any unspoken single rider etiquette? We often go in a group of three. If someone is in line behind a single rider and they are a single rider themselves is it considered rude to hop in the train with them without asking if they mind you sitting by them? We've ended up in the situation a few times this year of finding we were not lined up to get on the same train because people we thought were together were single riders and they let the seat go empty rather than ride next to each other. When this has happened I had whichever of my kids was the odd one out just hop in next to the single rider in front of them because I don't ree any reason to let an empty seat go while my kid waits at the station by himself. I would think that if you seriously didn't want anyone next to you that you could show it by taking the seat nearest to the loading side.

I've never seen a rider that had to/wanted to ride alone by taking the seat closest to the loading platform.

There is a 'etiquette',but most ignore it. If I see a single rider,I'll ask that person if I can ride with and only if the people behind that person will let me thru. If they won't,then I'll wait instead of creating a situation. I've seen people refusing to let a single rider past even though they were instructed by platrform crew to let that single rider pass. So rudeness exists on both sides.

Personally, when I'm single riding, I never just jump in beside someone...I'll ask first. Mainly, I just look for opportunities to jump a few trains up. Seems people ask quite frequently if I'll go before them so they can keep their group together. Also, when the ride op asks for a single rider.

I don't care if someone jumps in with me. I'll usually go to the second seat from the que in case someone wants to. I've met cool people this way, also there have been people who don't say a word.
