Myself, 2 teenage children, and 3 of their friends took advantage of the $34.99 August Sunday online deal and walked into the park right at 10a for 7+ hours of fun before things went south. We began with a 30 minute wait and ride on Millie, then rode Skyhawk (half working) as we headed back to Maverick, which was down for mechanical reasons. We then walked on and took our beating on Mean Streak before a surprising 5-10 minute wait for Gemini. We waited a couple trains for Magnum and then weathered a warm 55 minute wait for our Dragster run. By then it was time for some food and A/C so we headed to Fridays at the Breakers. We actually had to wait 15 minutes for a table at about 1:45 which seemed unusual since there were many empty tables. Our waiter did point out Hugh Jackman walking/picture taking on the boardwalk with his kids and 2 bodyguards. He seemed to be enjoying himself on the North Coast. By 3:00 we were ready to get riding again so we walked the boardwalk to the beach entrance. I caved and waited 20 minutes for DT, then we jumped on Wicked Twister after just a few trains. Half the group then stomached Maxair (2 cycle wait) before we waited just a couple trains for Raptor. We took the skyride back for a Power Tower drop and a walk on to Iron Dragon and Mantis. Little did we know that our riding was pretty much done. We hopped on the train around 5:30 to check out Maverick again, and it went down about 5 minutes after we got in line and dropped $9 on a Gatorade and frozen lemonade for the wait. We stuck it out for a few minutes before our return trip through Boneville to try Top Thrill again. It also quit launching after getting into a much shorter line. We waited a little while there before bailing. Most of the group was then ready to get wet so they tried STR while 2 fo us went back to Skyhawk and that's when the weather problems began. Things shutdown for about half an hour before either ride. Once it cleared, we all got in line for Maverick just as it was reopening. It was just about a 45 minute wait, but sure enough, as soon as we were the next group to enter the station, the skies let loose again. We waited about another 30 minutes (8:45) before it became pretty clear that the day was probably done. We trudged toward the front gate (even the train was down) and made it to our car in about 30 minutes with one downpour/gift shop delay. I knew that the weather would be dicey going in, but the mechanical problems were worse than I usually see on my annual visit.
