Im going to try to make this a short one.
We arrived at about 9:30 and had to wait for the park to open. Ver light crowds at first, but we had good crowds waiting behind us as we were one of the first inline for the park.
We headed first for Maverick. We weren't there very quick because the line was already 2 hours long. It really didn't seem that long as it was about 1 1/2 actually. Great ride and drop, lots of airtime (2nd car). The water bombs were not active all day. Rode Corkscrew, Raptor, Millennium Force, Mean Streak, Magnum throughout the day. As for the video on Raptor, I did not purchase, but it did look cool. I did heed the warning and did not buy though. Magnum was running one train (Blue). Nice and somewhat smooth. Line was 1 1/2 but once we got into the station we rode in about 2 cycles. (1st car second row).
Millie was smooth as always. Mean Streak not so much. At some points throughout the ride, it was if it was going to rollback and valley in some of the dips. Very noisy also. I noticed they did replace some wood on parts of the ride. I think they really need to improve the ride experience, or just have the biggest bonfire east of the Mississippi.
Lines were very short except for Maverick throughout the day.
Food was average. We tried out the new Panda Express. Decent prices, and some good food. Cleanliness could of been better. Word of advice to employees of Panda. Sweep the floors before you mop!! Nothing like seeing an employee trying to mop off stuff that should of been swept first.
The service for the pretzel place near magnum was kind of bad. The Employee totally forgot about my drink I ordered and had to wait inline again to remind her. Must be just the newbies at the registers or something. Food Prices around the park continue to be outrageous. Don't buy the 20oz for $3 when you can get a one liter for about the same amount at the Candy shop ion the Frontier Trail for about the same price.
I had a great time. I think they should consider what customers will pay for the food and somewhat lower them. : ) We left kind of early to beat the rush of traffic onto Route 2 on the way to Toledo.
Just note. The new bridge for I-280 opens June 26th.
I was also there the 27th. Best trip yet I would say. It was fun to see everyone RUN to the Maverick (I was also one of the first at the park waiting to get in) What was up with the marching band? We also went straight to the Maverick. Didn't mind the wait, the ride was awesome! That was our longest wait of the day, everything else we went on had a waiting time of 45 min or less except for Magnum. And the weather was just perfect that day! I agree the food is way too expensive. Come on, $8.19 for a burger and fries? Still my favorite amusement park though.
What's life if you never get to the point?
I was also there on Sunday, as well as Monday. We also got there around 9:30 and were unhappy to hear they changed the opening back to 10:00 again. So we waited to the side of the Soak City entrance until just before 10. Coasterfreak, were you sitting on the benches near the entrance with 3 other people (one guy had on a Back to the Future shirt) before opening? Your picture looks familiar. Anyways, we also made the trek (after a short attempt to jog that my friend got tired of quickly) over to Maverick and got our first ride and free t-shirts. It was a great ride, and we were very happy that Cedar Point made such a huge effort to get it open Memorial Day weekend. The rest of the trip was also great, and the staff and ride operators seemed very happy and friendly.
P.S. Is someone from pointbuzz the guy who wore the yellow Holiday World t-shirt on Sunday?
