Summer Spectacular 2003

Does anyone know if they are going to continue the Summer spectacular this year? I hope they dont. I hate the thing all it does is shut down a couple of coasters early and it is not very entertaining.......maybe they can change it to make it more exciting. Any comments or opinions?

No you still have to spiral down
Why wouldn't they? I can guarantee that they wouldn't be shutting down a couple of coasters if the midway wasn't jam-packed most nights with people who don't share your opinion.

The only thing other than CP that Steelers and Browns fans agree on

They will keep it running and it will now be called "Snoopy's Summer Spectacular" by the brochure (guess who will be the star). Seems like they were testing it with snoopy last year.

The only coaster they shut down is wildcat, which is not that great of a loss. And I love the Summer Spectacular, it's nice to end a buisy day with a show like that. Although it was much better when they showed videos of the coasters and w/out snoopy!

For the show WildCat along with Iron Dragon, CP and LE Railroad, Dodgem, and Space Spiral all shut dow for the show. I can't remember if the Giant Wheel does or not.

When I first heard it now being called Snoopy's Summer Spectacular, I got a little scared! I personally didn't like the whole Snoopy thing last year and just to imagine what could be going on now that the name of the show has Snoopy in it kind of creeps me out!

Another question*
Another reason I thought that it might be shut down this year is because of the whole 9/11 scare and the terrorist threat. If a suicide bomber wanted to kill some people he would do it in middle of a jam packed midway.......its dark and crowded. That thought kept me away from the show last year.......

Well we all know they shut down a few ride, including mine. The one that may not be a great loss, but it has its regulars too. Just try watching the summer spectacular almost every night. Thats what sucks!! And I don't hear the guests complain about the coaster being shut down. SO maybe you need to see if anyone else has the same opinon as you or if you are just full of yourself. and if 9/11 was going to have any impact on the show or the park i am sure they would have taken effect last year.

I didn't know Space Spiral shuts down, I don't think Giant wheel does though. And I really hope it's not all about snoopy, I want some on-ride videos of TTD and the other coasters!

Giant Wheel didn't shut down last yr for the laser show. They set the lasers so it wouldn't affect the guest on Wicked Twister and with Giant Wheel being right in front of it they were able to keep it open..

People REALLY need to stop playing the "terror card." YOU ARE THE ONES THAT MAKE THE TERRORISTS EFFECTIVE. Do you honestly think anything is going to happen? Even if it does, SO WHAT! What can you do about it? Nothing! Gaah. . .but for real. Time to get over "orange alert" and crap like that. Do what you want to do personally. . .if that means staying away from SUMMER SPECTACULAR 2003, so be it. ( ! )

AMEN Live E, go to the Point and enjoy yourself. IMO I find the summer spectacular to be a nice relaxing end to a fun filled day at Cedar Point!
If you don't want to watch it...Ride some more rides. That's what I do. I've never watched the Summer Spectacular. I use that time to get on more rides, usually Raptor, Magnum, Gemini or Mean Streak. The Raptor lines are still long, but Magnum, Gemini and Mean Streak have relatively short lines/if any. :)

Metallica, Magnum and Mountain Dew, and finally turning 21...what could be better?

I watch the summer spectacular on half the trips I take, and the midway is jammed pack every single time. I doubt they'd shut it down for lack of popularity.

And for the record, if terrorists were going to hit an amusement park, they are more likely to hit a park that is more well known world wide than CP is. Think Disney.

I love it! It makes alot of people leave areas by mangum and raptor and go towards the screen thing, last year i walked on magnum 3 times in a row. I personally have only seen the show once, and found it better to go to rides with no wait.

ive never actually watched it, the first time i went it started raining and last time i think it might have ended for the season, or i left early, i forget. And this year when I go it wont be open cause im going on may 20-21
Last year I was waiting in line for MF, and you could see it. It was actually kinda nice from what I saw. It had a nice Tribute to America with that one country song. This year I won't have to worry bout it though, I'll be in the back of the park working! :-)

How do the lasers from the Sumer Spectacular affect rides on the other side of the park?

Topthrill, located at the bottom of the laser screen there is a effects laser that shoots over the crowd toward Space Spiral area..Giant Wheel used to close for the laser show in the past before Wicked Twister was put in..The rides that close down for the laser show are: Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Dodgem, Space Spiral, and the CP&Lake Erie Railroad.
