My family and I will be vacationing in ohio this June. We will be visiting GL and WWK around June 10th. We will be spending about 3 days between GL and WWK.
We are staying in Streetsboro at the Holiday Inn Express. Anyone ever stayed here please post your opinion?
Any suggestions for good places to eat in Aurora or Streetsboro. I read GL food is not the best park food. Something I read suggested leaving the park to eat or packing a cooler lunch.
I read GL is not usually busy. We will spend 2 days there and maybe split a 3rd between WWK and GL. Is this too much time?
My spouse has a bad back. What rides should she avoid?
Thanks,
Z

All the rides have Ride Safety Guides outside the entrance/queue line, they have little symbols on them which will tell you if you should avoid the ride due to back issues or for other reasons.

I've never stayed there, but have visted Streetsboro many times to see family. It's a nice town and is really growing.

The majority of the safety signs say that riding isn't recommended if you have a bad back.
You might want to "test ride" the wooden coasters to see if you find them too rough for your spouse. Same goes with the motion simulator- that tends to be very powerful.
However, there are a handful of rides where the safety sign says "The Manufacturer and Geauga Lake Prohibit Guests with the following conditions from riding." Dodgems, for instance, has this specific wording. If you see that phrase on the sign, your spouse should not ride!

yeah then come visit me on Dominator :). but uhh as far as food is concerned, Im not sure if they've phased out the "picnic by the lake" that gives u a catered lunch I BELIEVE on Saturdays and Sundays, and then u get catered food (Hamburgers hotfogs etc...) and unlimited refills on Pepsi, I believe it's 10.99 per person.
$10.99 for burgers and dogs? Why am I not surprised? One thing Cedar Fair know how to do well is take money out of wallets (or purses).

You're gonna pay for food no matter what entertainment venue you go to. $10.99 for burgers and dogs is a deal compared to what the Movies sell you. I can't find any information on the website but its on their somewhere, I'll keep looking.
I can get a 1/4 Pounder w/Cheese for 2 bucks at Mickey D's! And it would be of better quality.
Excuse me while I go eat my salad and broccoli.
Man, am I gonna fart tomorrow.

Yeah, you can go to McDonald's but how many parkgoers really feel like doing that. Is $11 really that bad for an all you can eat meal at an amusement park? Fun costs Mr. Scott. Amusement parks are not having an easy time right now even charging what they are.
Believe me, Fastball, I know that fun costs. Cedar Fair has a lot of what used to be my money.

I saw the info about the picnic by the lake on the GL website or brochure. I did not think it was worth the money. What restaurants are outside the park? We may leave the park to eat at least once a day. What are some decent restaurants inside the park?
Feeding 3 growing boys may be a little cheaper outside the park. I'm sure while spending 10 days in Ohio for CP and GL we will spend plenty of money in the parks.
Thanks,
Z.
There's a McDonald's across the street. I think a KFC is there, a Ruby Tuesday's, a Subway somewhere, Pizza Hut that you pass on your way off the highway and my personal favourite Rocknes somewhere around there. I'm not the one driving so I can't give street names. I personally didn't find the picnic a good enough deal and I don't like eating in the parks, I enjoy taking breaks. However, for amusement park food, $10.95 didn't seem like that bad of a deal for an all-you-can-eat buffet.
personally i dont see how you could spend that long at GL, ive only been twice and was able to ride everything i wanted to in a few hours. im not an over-and-over re-rider though... dont get me wrong, GL is fun and definitely worth visiting, i plan on going back on my next trip, but i prefer for it to be just a break from my few days at CP.
I wouldn't recommend going to Rocknes, as the 10.99 u were gonna spend not buy that Picnic by the lake, would be used for the gas, as it's in Solon on Aurora Rd & 91. If you wish to eat outside the park, and wanting a sit-down restuarant, there's a Ruby Tuesdays, and bob Evans across the street, as well as more restaurants probably next to the park as there's now a Marketplacee II going in next to the Geauga Lake Rd. But I'd HIGHLY recommend the Happy Harbor Cafe they have some reallllllly good food over there. Im not gonnalie I love it :). But honestly I think you'd enjoy it. *** Edited 2/21/2006 7:33:24 PM UTC by Rian Whitman***
What is Marketplace II? Is that a grocery store or a shopping center? I am from Missouri so that is not something I am familiar with.
Thanks for the other information.

How about sneaking up to the Point one of those days? I agree with dorkdork...3 days at GL seems a bit long. Youll be able to ride everything 25 times.
by day 2.
yes it is a shopping center that's not only across the street, but it'll now be next to it. This probably wont be open as I think it was cleared of land this winter but idk haven't been around th park lately.
We will be in Sandusky for 4-5 days before moving to Streetsboro and GL. We will spend at least 3 days at CP and 1 day at SC. Our original plan was just for a trip to CP and then we added the Pro Football Hall of Fame and a combo trip of GL and WWK. I would not miss CP. I been wanting to go to CP since I read about it 4 or 5 years ago in our St. Louis newspaper.
