Storm damage to power lines on the causeway

According to several reports via Twitter, power lines on the causeway are damaged after a severe storm passed through. That's right, a utility line extending to the peninsula is down on CoasterMania weekend.

Sounds like the park also doesn't have power. At least it's a slow day, and not yesterday.

Saw the storm on the only cam that stayed alive, it looked nasty

First Energy is reporting that power should be restored by 0300. I'd imagine it's generic, but I will say this outage isn't even just a Cedar Point issue. Fremont, Sandusky, Put in Bay, and even Cleveland is reporting outages right now. It was a wicked storm that passed thru the area.

Biggest thing is hopefully everyone was safe during it & were able to at least get shelter, there might have been hail too that we don't know about yet.

This is unrelated, but the storm seems to be moving in my area of Akron, OH.

That storm seemed almost too weak for it to cause down power lines from southern Cleveland area.

Word has it power is out in the back half of the park, but the front has power. Webcam status would seem to lend credence.

^^ It lost its oomph by the time it got to the central Lorain county area too. A bunch of rain was all and the 2nd line dissipated before it even could get to us. I've seen some video from Sandusky the winds were strong nothing like what it was here.

Most of the peninsula is still off. What is it about Coastermania weekend and utility problems? Jason - time to build a power plant next to that new water tower.

Dang weather! Waiting for my favorite band to play tonight at Mountain Jam in NY, and the whole festival is cancelled due to severe weather. Boooooo

We had considered going today but this morning decided against it because I was so sore form yard work. Good thing I guess.

Not sure if anyone saw the reply on twitter that said "Good thing we don't need power to set up tents" and "But we are still sleeping in the park right?"

He needs to be informed about what the word cancelled means lol

If I recall correctly, we had a damaged part of the causeway just a few months back that was patched up and now this, and not to mention the constant bumper to bumper back ups on busy days. I think it's time Cedar Point invests in an updated Causeway, with electrical running underground, and widened to 6-lanes.

Would they give refunds or return passes in this case? I've heard of them doing that in extreme cases. There's also displaced resort guests.
