Stoped at the top?????

this is an idea but i dont know if it was metioned in here but what is the thing on the tophat of the track are they brakes..?.... if so do you think they will stop the ride or slow it down????
At the top of the tophat is a set of stairs and a maintenance catwalk. There are no brakes.

at the top of the track in this pic but it looks like there is something in the middle of the track if you look close http://www.virtualmidway.com/mystery/attraction517_big.jpg

but if you look the "rail for stairs " go farther than the red thing on the track and if you look at other pics the stairs did not have the maroon on the side of them i could be wrong if i am that would be sweet to stop at top and have a lookaround at 400 +feet do you think so?

The one thing people are forgetting when thinking if they are brakes is this..

The brake magnets are located ON the car as opposed MF where the fins are on the car and the magnets on the track..

That has been my argument for a while, yet I still have a friend who is convinced there will be "electrically charged brake fins" at the top that will somehow work as electromagnets to stop the train... right.

people are mean man just mean but anways thanks for the help guess but would you want to stop at top or go up and over?
I would like to go up and over

the airtime will be AMAZING :)

That's a cool thought--hypothetically, of course. It would be very cool to see the view (you could probably see the freakin' North Pole from up there), and it would add an element of acrophobia that a coaster like this loses over a chain-lift coaster.

The thing I like most about these threads is the vivid imagination of the participants--it's really fun to think about some of the possibilities!

Webcams don't show all.

I stated a while back that it might be interesting to have the train stop at the top and hang there for a few seconds.

Maybe the can do something like Disney's Tower of Terror and have some trains stop on top and some go straight over. It would be like a couple of different rides.

That's ridiculous... I would be mighty pissed if I was on the run where they brake you at the top....the view would inspire the fear rather than the "OMG I'm gonna float right out of this f****** seat!!!". Believe me, the airtime will make this ride.

The airtime coupled with the slight lateral made Xcelerator. Front seat for the view....back seat for the forces.

I think people will remember the launch long after they have forgotten the airtime.
The only time it will stop at the top is when it rolls back... I sure hope I stop at the top at least once. :)

If it stopped at the top what would get it rollin again? I don't think they would just get on the loud speaker and yell "Lets get it goin ok everyone lean to the front!". There is not a single purpose to having it stop on the top.

what if it got over the top then stopped like Superman ultimate escape ???

The B&M Dive Machine has that brake just beyond the crest of the hill that hangs the train over the edge momentarily before letting it drop. THAT would be pretty crazy.
In order to revers directions, you have to stop. It won't be for longer than a few miliseconds, but you do stop.

Who said anything about it reversing directions?
If those are brakes, its too short of a segment to stop the train. Maybe they are just there to reduce the speed and cause more airtime, again, that is if these really are brake. (Which didn't seem to be mounted on the track while in the parking lot like the other brakes where)

I don't know what you're smoking, but Dragster is a full curcuit roller coaster.

Those are not brakes... if they were, they would be incompatible with the type of brakes Intamin Rocket Coasters use. They utilize 'rare earth magnets' under the train, and the copper fins on the brake runs pass through them to stop the train. What you are seeing in that photo is just the flat bottom of the stairs, where to stand. The angle of the photo makes it looks as if they are brakes, which they are not.
