Stolen All-Season Drink Cups

I hate the look of the park now with dirty used cups lining fences and landscaping.

^ Unfortunately? So you wanted your cup to be taken?

It got thrown out on November 2 anyways...

They should replace a lost or stolen cup, or provide an acceptable means for storing them while you are on a ride since they are trying to sell them to people THREE AT A TIME! Every time I order something or get a refill, they're trying to get be to buy another one.

You really can't be responsible for your own stuff?

This is different then me bringing a backpack or a stroller into the park or winning a giant stuffed animal and having to deal with that. They are selling these cups to you for the sole purpose of staying "refreshed" while you are in the park. If you have only one, they want you to buy two more. Oh, and by the way, you can't take them even in a line with you on many rides, it needs to stay off with a non rider or in a locker. Well, not that many groups consist of non riders, and why do I need to pay an additional $2 to store a cup in a one-time-use locker, move to the next ride and pay $2 again? There are a ton of those cups on top of the lockers, which should be an acceptable practice. Some people even trust the general public enough to leave their actual backpack on top of the locker. More power to them.

It is, in that you are making a deliberate choice to buy a refillable cup.

Yep. Weird how for-profit businesses work....

You don't. You can avoid that onerous cost by not buying a refillable cup in the first place.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

If you leave your cup unattended it is your own fault of it gets stolen. Cedar Fair could add hooks to the loose article bins to hang the cups by the handle much like other parks have done. It's cheap and easy, promotes souvenir cup sales and provides a place for the cup.
Yes you are always going to be asked if you want another souvenir cup, they are extremely profitable, every company must turn a profit in order to continue to operate.

This may not work for everyone but, I fill my cup with ice water before I drive to the park, sip on it on the drive, leave it in the car and ride rides without bins until I eat lunch, then I retrieve the cup for lunch around 11, eat and watch a few shows, rides some rides with bins or return the cup to the car until dinner.

It's really too bad Cedar Point is being "littered" by these orange and green cups they are working so hard to sell. If it's a problem for them, they need to rethink the drink program. Until then I guess it's an eye sore that they get to deal with which they have created themselves.

Also, I was at Kings Island today and rode several roller coasters. Not a single one required riders to leave a drink cup off the ride. As a result, there was no orange and green litter to be seen anywhere. Maybe Cedar Point should figure out how their sister park has accommodated this program.

Slave to the drink cup.

^ Depending on the day that could be numerous trips through security too.

Just bring an old pair of (clean) but dingy underwear in your bag. Place your cup in a flowerbed or under a bench and put the underwear on top of it. I'd be shocked if anyone stole it.

If you have a problem losing your plastic cup
That gives you 5-6 months of free soda, don't buy one. If your couldn't care less, buy one and leave it on top of a locker.

Why in the "insert your choice of words here" would someone purchase an item or service that they knew had multiple issues, and then proceed to complain about said issues?

That's like buying a KIA and then wondering why every other week you're receiving a recall notice.

Firehawk and Flight of Fear do not allow cups in line, and there are the required lockers in that little corner of the park.

Banshee. No cups.

That's two and they're located right next to each other (I didn't go on these). Yes, buy a locker once and knock them both out. We're talking about Millennium, Gatekeeper, Rougarou, Valravn, Magnum, Top Thrill. All located in different areas. I get it, you buy something and take responsibility for it. If it's lost it's on you. When there is the added cost of storing this cup in 5 lockers throughout the day (if you don't hide it), it really devalues the stupid thing. People won't pay it if they don't need to, and we will continue to see these things lying around in random locations until the deal changes or the storage procedure changes.

Except all of the coasters you mentioned have perfectly legitimate reasons for not allowing these dumb cups on the platform: Unload and Load platforms are in separate places, small platforms (i.e. Valravn, Magnum, Rougarou) or capacity.

It's simply so much easier when these particular rides don't have bins to get people through the line in a timely fashion. What's more valuable to you: a shorter, faster line experience or the ability to refill corn syrup-filled sludge and take it with you to a ride?

And if a for-profit business sees the value in having people choose a locker for their ridiculous, over-priced souvenir cups, they'll continue to make it a policy. Cedar Point is in the business of making money. And it seems like not so many people think it's such an inconvenience to use the lockers, of which there are plenty. I'd also argue that the cups aren't very valuable to begin with. They seemingly use the same cup design every year with a new sticker slapped on it. Big freakin' deal.

And it's just straight up hyperbole to say that there are hundreds of souvenir cups littering the bushes and what-not. Cedar Point is consistently one of the cleanest parks I've ever been to, because they understand the value in it. The sweeps generally do an amazing job of making sure the park is as clean as possible at any given time.

In the end, it all comes down to this: just drink water. It's free, cold, always available and so much better for you. And you don't need a locker for it.

They are a for profit business. No doubt about that. They are also in the business of creating a "Best Day" experience and asking people to post on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook how much fun they're having. If people are being sold these stupid cups and being hassled about how they're handled, that chips away from the "Best Day" experience. If people are choosing to leave them on top of lockers (which I'd prefer they over the bushes and tree lines) and the person patrolling the area dressed as a football referee is telling people they need to rent a locker or their cup will be discarded, that chips away from the "Best Day" experience.
No one is against Cedar Point making a profit on a simple cup with a sticker and keeping the place clean, but they don't need to go out of their way to inconvenience someone with it. Let them leave it on top of the lockers at their own risk. Look into the idea of a "floating locker rental" where one fee let's you rent a locker throughout the park in different areas as needed. I'd guess they'd make more money on locker rentals by doing this.
Aside from cups, I have seem people just throw their backpacks on to of the lockers and get on a ride. Now THAT'S stupid, but not as stupid as leaving beach bags unattended on a cabana chair in Soak City the entire day.
Also, I don't drink the corn syrup sludge. I'm an aspartame drinker.

So, they're forcing you to buy the cup? It's simple - if you're not willing to accept the responsibility of carrying and storing the cup, don't purchase it.

Yes, how unforgivable of park employees for wanting to clean up litter. Just awful.

All this argument about the season long souvenir cup makes me wish we had the season long beer cup.

No need for a locker, it's constantly in use especially after reading things like what was posted above...
