Loving the reviews in this thread. By all accounts, it seems the park picked the right people for the job. No complaints here.
Top Thrill Dragster had a media day. There are videos of it on YouTube.
Anyways, based on the reviews, it seems as if SV is a lot of people’s new favorite. I heard some say it’s even better than Fury 325! I can’t wait for opening day!

I was at Blue Streak’s Media Day. But to be honest, I think the only reason they had me there was that they wanted the World’s Only Enthusiast. And it wasn’t all that great, there was only one train, typewriters and land line telephones were mounted to the front (those cords were a MESS), and the food was Space Food Sticks, Jello Whip and Chill, and Hire’s root beer. (Look em up).
Adam is absolutely right. I sat at home yesterday and lived vicariously through my friends who garnered invitations. And I know my opportunity will come tomorrow. The park has so graciously provided alternative chances at preview rides, and I took it as a chance to get my ass to a party and do good work through charitable contributions. That, to me at least, is most satisfying.
Giga G, you are a young person. This will not be the only time in your life that you’ll feel left out of something you feel you deserve. The lesson is to roll with it and your alternative is to work mindfully and carefully to put yourself in the desired position for the future rather than stand and expect things to be handed to you. Just some friendly Dad advice.
Better than Fury325??!?? Say it ain’t so!
I’ve been waiting for the silly apples/oranges comparisons to come rolling in and I’m not disappointed. I’ve never been one to keep a ranking list, that to me is the stuff of headaches and sleepless nights. And I, unlike most of you, am well-traveled with decades of experience. Not to brag, but I’ve been lucky in my long riding career to have witnessed just about every modern innovation that’s come along. Some have been more successful than others, but just when you think you’ve seen it all...
We have an awesome hobby. There’s a little bit for everyone. It’s fun, it’s thrilling, it’s participatory, you have to get out of the house to do it, there’s nerdy science, and there’s a chance to make lifelong friends. I think we have it all over the sports nuts who can live their lives in front of the tv.
And I will say that CP seems to have put the lasso around the single best RMC experience that can be bought today. It’s the perfect storm for them. They had the potential makings for a great conversion (we all knew it and prayed for it) and it’s to everyone’s benefit (especially theirs) that the timeline resulted in a long wait. As RMC had proven themselves and grown enough to become a premier supplier, their technology and creativity came along at just the right moment. Rides like New Texas Giant are awesome, but I for one am glad we weren’t first. And with this ride the park has made all the right choices and requests. For once I’m satisfied that their quest for a record breaker didn’t come along to bite them in the ass. I’ve yet to ride, but I don’t feel like I need to necessarily reserve judgement. This ride will be wildly popular for years, and the public will eat it up they way we are. And those of us who hope the best for our beloved park will just have to look at those long lines and smile.
(And get FastLane+).
Well, I have to go do some thigh-strengthening squats and figure out my clothes for tomorrow. It’s supposed to rain. (Please join me in prayer...)

Hope to have my photos edited/uploaded by tonight, but in the meantime, my review:
I have been on four RMC’s prior (Wicked Cyclone, Joker, Storm Chaser, Goliath) so I had an idea of what to expect for the ride experience, and it met those expectations (and then some). To sum it up in short, it has the strongest ejector air I have ever experienced… And it happens over, and over, and over again. It mixes laterals, crazy air time and a super smooth, thrilling layout.
A bit longer of a review…
The first half is just awesome! The outward bank hill is great fun and that zero-g, turn and reversal stall from around the lift is the highlight for me. A great trio of elements. After the MCBR, it turns up to 11. The S-turn hill before diving into the structure was a surprise and probably my favorite airtime moment on the ride as it’s a bit more sustained over a longer period of time than most of the other hills which are more abrupt in typical RMC fashion. The turns, zero-g-rolls and airtime pops within the structure are disorientating for sure. The pacing doesn’t let up any and you race through the structure are crazy speeds to the finale of the “mechanical bull” hop finale, as I call it, those quick airtime hills before the brake run.
It’s one crazy ride and will be a HUGE hit for the park (GP and enthusiasts alike). Hard for me to place the ride in my “rankings”, which is basically non-existent anyway… But it’s for sure a ride that will be regarded as one of the best in the world. Steel Vengeance is an enthusiasts coaster, for sure. One of the most intense, ejector-air filled rides. It hit’s all the things that make for a great coaster (drop, speed, smoothness, laterals, airtime, inversions, head choppers, ride length, etc…). It has it all.
Oh, and there is not a bad seat on the ride. You hardly notice any difference between the front, middle and back rows to be honest (aside from the view from the front, of course). The ride just goes so quickly and is so intense that it just really, really doesn’t matter. Seriously.
After lap number six, I was done. The ride experience is so intense the thighs/shin started to get sore from all the airtime and myself personally, couldn’t really “handle” another ride yesterday. It’s nothing like say Millennium Force, Raptor or hell, even Maverick… This is a whole different beast of a ride.
There is no doubt that this ride will likely be top of almost any poll for every single applicable category this year. It’s inevitable!
Cedar Point and RMC created something wonderful. I look forward to seeing the reaction from the “GP” and enthusiasts when this thing opens to the public.

To tag on what RCMAC said, think long and hard about considering a career in media for an opportunity to attend events like this. Put simply the pay is crap for all but the few that survive the 15-20 years it generally takes to rise in management or stature. The odds of success are similar to those considering a career as a professional athlete, and your career can end just as fast. In addition it frequently requires long stints in undesirable locations for enthusiasts, like Omaha. Lol.
Listen to what Cargo Shorts says, he knows. And he didn’t just luck out. He’s got the perfect face for radio. :)
Thanks to all for the great reviews! Beyond excited to finally ride next weekend. I have a question about the Fastlane queue. Is is a true Fastlane like Valravn? Or more of a "Freeway" Fastlane like Millennium Force?
The fast lane line goes straight to the platform like Valravn.
I got to ride twice on Tuesday and once more before media day started yesterday and I echo everything in this thread. There is just nothing to compare this ride to, it's something special.
16 - Pipe Scream
17 - TL Slingshot
18 - TL Steel Vengeance
19 - Sup Tiques/Wave
Thanks for posting all the reviews! I thought I was excited before I read this thread, but now . . . tomorrow can't get here fast enough!

I’m glad you didn’t say Coaster Enthusiasts, as every single hobby you can name has its share.
Yes. I can tell you of one blimp enthusiast who causes all kinds of problems. That person is persona non grata with alot of other enthusiasts. This person thinks everything has to be done according to them. And train enthusiasts, aka "foamers" also cause alot of problems when the 765 steam engine comes to the valley.

I'll be there, Anyone know where we'll be allowed to park? Not going to whine about parking in the main lot, just a question.
I’m willing to bet you guys will get the same gifts the media got as well.

These are some of the scariest and most ridiculous people in the world, ever...
Like, I get passion, but their passion I just don't understand. What about an engine means standing out and yelling at it loudly?
