^CoasterMania was like that in 2015, but in 2016 they started charging for it and limited the number of tickets, which really helped.
What is with all the handwringing?
OSU Day is open to anyone, even pass holders, that are willing to pay the OSU Day general admission. If you want to be the 'First to ride' (oh how comical that is) go ahead and join the fun on OSU Day!

Yeah! Let's ignore that passholders didn't need to pay for part of that last time (even if it was mishandled, it was certainly better than nothing.)
Again, I'm guessing they'll confirm "yay or nay" on passholders preview or media day by or at WCO.
I doubt there will be a passholder preview day this year. No big deal, it is only one day. I'd rather buy a Fastlane on Saturday than spend money on an Ohio State ticket for Friday.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
I kind of wish there was, because SV is one of the most highly anticipated coasters in the last 5 years.

I recall one year they had preview day the day before the park opened and OSU day on a regular operating day. That probably didn't make OSU guests happy. With the way the park has OSU day (which pre-dates preview events), it kind of puts them in a pickle for trying to do a preview event. It's really no big deal to me. I'm not going to drive 2 hours for a 3-4 hour event with limited attractions. I am however, trying to go to KI preview this year, but that's an overnight trip for me and I will be at the park the next day.

Okay, I hate to sound like a noob here, but what is passholder preview day? when is it usually held? on a sunday before the park opens? Are other rides open as well, or just the one?

Basically it's a day or evening (usually the Friday night before opening day) where the park opens just for season pass holders. Sometimes it has coincided on the same day as OSU day. But I think the most recent one was for Rougarou's opening weekend, and if memory serves me right, they had several coasters open. It's certainly not a full-operational night, but there were a good number of rides open. The caveat is that some rides are late to get certified, and it's early in the year, so often rides that were planned to be open, are not. Also, OSU day normally lasts most of the day, while the passholder preview was often only during the evening, hence why some people are frustrated at the prioritization.

Valravn had one mixed with OSU Day (which was criticized a lot) and 2017 had one for CP shores instead of a "normal" pre-season one.
Okay, I just kind of thought of this...
After reading this thread AGAIN and the SV's 3 amigos thread, I had kind of an interesting thought...Would they do some themeing in the queue? Like, you enter and there's the sign with the ride name and 3 outlaws. Next thing you go through the queue, which kind of looks like a run-down shed. Inside, there's machinery, parts on the floor, schematics everywhere. That is digger's lab/garage/whatever, where's he's coming up with new stuff(and drinking loads of coffee and face desking). There's also a bar inside with a poker table that maybe has blackjack playing poker with someone. I can't think of anything for chess though... And when you get into the ride station, it's themed to all 3 of them?

It’s Cedar Point, theming 🤣😂😅. There isn’t even a stuffed teddy bear at Rougaroo, just an old radio shack loudspeaker that barely works half the time.... in Line theming, that’s precious.

How about just a path to get you to the loading platform to ride instead of a bunch of junk that gets boring to look at after the first 5 minutes?

I have a feeling that aside from their digital incarnations, we’ve seen the last of the Trio. I’d love to be proven wrong, but don’t get your hopes up. I also have a feeling that they spared no expense and blew the entire budget for the ride itself on making it a freaking phenomenal, long, action packed, enthusiast’s wet dream of a rollercoaster, and I’m perfectly fine with that.
The real question is: will there be station music? I see the advantages and disadvantages of it, but either way, it would be interesting to bring back.

Not to mention special effects that break down and won't get fixed, like the wonderful big box that used to block the view of the lake for a couple decades before Gatekeeper.
I predict In-queue TVs. With junk on them that gets boring to look at after 5 minutes.

It all remains to be seen.
But think about queues of late, especially at other parks. Mystic Timbers’ queue is interesting and pleasant. There are trees, winding paths, graphics, spit rail, and stuff like that. There’s plenty of room for stuff like that at CP and it would certainly break the monotony of acres of switchback queues. And all of that can be accomplished without complying with a storyline or installing expensive themeing that will just be subject to a lot of complaints down the road anyway.
