Starting my first season. What did I get myself into?

Oh something else I thought about...I hope you like spiders, cuz CP has TONS of them... probably the worst part about the whole experience..I definately walked into a few webs doing low zones at Raptor last year..

as long as they dont have red hourglasses or brown violins spiders dont bother me ;)

What kind of spiders? I am like a scaredy cat when it comes to spiders, but I can usually crush them if they aren't too big/scary looking.

yeah, what type of spiders? i'm terrified of spiders :/ I'm not applying for a job in rides so i'm hoping most of the ones/webs you've encountered are from walking through/around/under the rides?

I don't know the type but they were seriously the biggest spiders I have ever seen in my life. I have an extreme phobia of spiders as well and let me tell you, nothing prepared me for that. They are all over the park, we used to tell guests not to lean on the handrails, because there are spiders all up and down them. Blech.

several employees were bit by the spiders and even had to be taken to the hospital because of it

ive only visited CP once and i'm a native NYer (tho im living in cleveland the past few months) so don't know anything about the spiders in this area... Ugh. Are they lethal? Or just painful poisonous?

Are there spiders in the dorms/apartments? Or is this more of a park thing? I worked at Disney and Universal and florida and never saw a spider inside the parks with the amount of stuff they must have sprayed! I guess I took that for granted... o.o

You guys are creepin me out with all this spider talk! I may have to get some intense spider spray and kill all of them I see :) Also, I have a question about walking around at night time? Is it ever dangerous/creepy or is it well lit and safe?

I don't want to freak anyone out, but there are Brown Lacluse spiders around the park. My girlfriend got bit on the temple sleeping a couple of years ago and when she woke up it looked like i punched her in the face. Just be careful and stay away from them.

Its nothing to stress yourself out about! And they are only really out for like 2 weeks at the end of July/Beginning of August. You just have to be careful around that time.

Ummm I used to take up position with the water hose and kills those big nasties. The ones in the back of the park, I'm pretty sure are poisonous and can give you a nasty infection. Blech, I'm shivering thinking about it. And Kevin, I will admit, Raptor low zones had the BIGGEST spiders I have ever seen or dreamed of in my life.

well i'm applying for a job in the entertainment department so i am praying i have nothing to do with being in areas like that other than simply being on line etc (would take a lot to get me to walk under a coaster regardless)

and other than the girl being bitten while sleeping, are there other instances like that in the dorms? or are they mostly safe as long as they aren't like filthy and food/bug infested?

wow im really glad im too tall to be an animated character right now - i had nightmares while being such at USF about a spider being in my costume while out on stage and not being able to do anything about it! O.O

so yeah, we talking australia sized spiders? or just large for this part of the world spiders?

Don't let spiders change your mind about working at CP. They aren't really that bad but then again i did work in Disaster Transport most of the summer. I also never saw any in the dorms the entire season so i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Oh and CJ what building were you in that this happened? Cause i defiantly do not remember this from last season!

I don't remember spiders in the dorms at all. They are big for this part of the world. I think you should be fine if you're doing entertainment. Ah, they were gross though.

well im certainly still coming up to interview monday (if i can get out of NY tomorrow... the darn blizzard keeps ruining my travel plans!) so i hadn't been serious about it stopping me completely from coming or applying... tho it's a big concern that i'll just have to deal with this summer if i'm there!

i need a 'no spider zone' sign or something for the dorm room and a bottle of hair spray attached to my arm so i can attack them should they come at me in the parks! ever hair spray a spider? tends to destroy their webs but eventually they stop moving! at least the ones ive dealt with

ya'll are gonna know who i am this summer should i come knocking on your door in the middle of the night to remove a spider from the room LOL

"Cedar Park employee faints at sight of spider" etc etc and i've walked in on a dead body in a bedroom before so you KNOW spiders freak me out!

Spiders? You want to see some giant spiders, come to the Pagoda after the sun goes down. These things hang around the lights, cause that's where the bugs go. We have to get our brooms and knock them down, I stepped on one and I swear it looked at me and said, hey is that the best you can do? Then it started running away! The funniest thing that I ever had happen, was when a squirrel came into the store and grabed a Snickers candy bar, and then took off out the door. As he ran past me, I said, hey dude, you did'nt pay for that! Everyone in the store busted out laughing.

I'm like shivering right now from all this spider talk! You guys are pretty much creeping me out. Does anyone have any pictures of these nasty suckers so we can see what they look like and be aware of them. I'm just mostly scared for the lethal/poisonous/dangerous ones.. THAT is what scares me. Also do any of you know if there are a lot in the hotel? I will be working housekeeping and I want to be prepared to find any. Also, can someone answer my question about walking around at night and what not. It's a few replies up. :)

Chris, not last year. This happened in 2007 in 1400's. Ask pat, it was nasty. She had to go the ER because it kept spreading.
