Starlight Experience

Did anyone catch the preview of Starlight Experience? If so, how was it?

I don't think it starts until next weekend.

EDIT: nevermind

I mentioned the Preview this past weekend on this thread

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

They had two small areas of trees lit from the ground to almost the top with small blue and white lights. It looked very good. The barn was lit in red, white and blue. There are other colors on the trees too, they just weren't turned on that night. The lights are held to the trees with a mesh wrap. It seems like it will be like walking through a tunnel of stars. I think the entire show will be most impressive. I saw Mr. Kinzel checking things out.

They added some underground electrial as part of this. I saw a electric box in the area where the flags and marking were last year. We had a big discussion about what they were for.

It will also be interesting to see how much they have in timing with the music. They have several new large speakers along the trail. As I said in my other post, I am really anxious to see the finished product.

How does it affect the Trail experience during daylight hours?

I noticed the lights, but I was looking for them. I think they blend in pretty well.

I was walking past the section of blue and white when it came on. I had to get a picture with my fiance on that. I think this is going to be a really cool addition.

An employee told me that the "season theme" mentioned in the press release is four themed zones: Spring Summer Fall Winter! It starts near Frontier Town with spring and ends near the tunnel with winter. The preview was of the winter section of th show.

I was impressed with the way the trees looked. It was bright, and overall cool. Cant wait to see the whole thing set up. As for the look during the day, I agree with Walt and say it's hardly noticeable. That is unless you truly care SOOOOO much about seeing christmas style lights wrapped around trees. Which if you do, you need to take a chill pill and avoid the FT trail till the show.

I was scepticle about seeing the Trail during day light hours with the lights everywhere but after seeing it today it really does look fine. I'm excited to see the finished product.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Awesome. They had it running tonight. not sure if it was running to its full potential or not, but amazing. Walking from the MF tunnel you start with a gold lighting theme, then into a Christmas blue complete with real snow, followed by a Halloween theme and a summer theme with a neat firework lighting display. Peanuts characters are the centerpieces for each section.

9 out of 10 on this attraction. We walked through after the park closed and the other guests were amazed stopping to take pictures while "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing at everything.

Please please please keep this attraction maintained.

I'm really excited about this. It's funny...I was watching the dancing lights at the Toledo Zoo's Lights Before Christmas and seeing how beautiful everything was a couple years ago. At that time, I had this same vision of CP having dancing lights all along Frontier Trail to some techno music, and I was going to write in a suggestion to CP. Then I'm like "Meh, they'll never maintain it or even read my suggestion."

Then, I saw the Starlight Experience emerge this Spring and was like "No way!" It's like they stole the idea out of my head! Only they're not dancing lights to techno music, but lights themed to seasons. Hmmmm...

To anyone that has experienced it, do they have any dancing lights to music? I love them.

They had a disco type theme in the tunnel underneath Millennium. Other than that, not a whole lot of flashing or moving lights.

Same here, should be sweet. Though it's gonna be kinda hard to coincide with the ert after the park closes.

Does it seem that any of the additions/lights may be used in some way for the Fright Zone?

Maybe the panels of LED's they have scattered on the trail could somehow cause a strobe effect.

My brother and I saw the preview they were having on Friday night. I think my brother put it best when he said, "This makes about as much sense as the plot on Disaster Transport." ;) ("This" = the current setup)

They really went a little overboard on some of the trees. The buildings and the petting farm barn look nice with red, white, and blue lights on them. It is a nice, patriotic look. If they just went a bit more conservative on the trees, I think it wouldn't look so bad. The floats with the Peanuts characters also seemed a bit out of place and I don't even know what to say about the Yanni soundtrack.

Granted it was only a preview night, so it could be fixed up and fine tuned a little bit more. I hope that is what they are planning on doing. They have a decent concept in mind, but it just seems to have been poorly implemented. Tone down the trees, work on the flow throughout the whole area, and try to blend in the various elements and transitions.

I'm going to agree that I'm a little confused as to why they themed the Starlight Experience based on seasons, or why it needed a theme at all...

Originally when I read that the lights would change with the seasons, I thought that it meant fresh spring colors and music early in the CP season....to red/white/blue summer music and lights mid-season....to mellow fall colors or Halloween-themed late-season. But, sounds like you're just walking through all the seasons at once as the theme.

By the way, if anyone didn't know what dancing lights were, here's a link:

Wouldn't it be fun to be this person's neighbor? ;) These are much more impressive in person and over a larger area than a house though. Would have been perfect for Frontier Trail imo...
