Stapling Out of Hand?

My friend has told me about this one time he rode Mantis before they had put in the seat belts. he said on the way up the chain lift that the restraints un-clicked and flew all the way up and over his head, and that he had to pull it back down. Now i tend not to believe this story b/c if that had really happened wouldnt the ride have had stopped right there on the chain lift?
Doubt it.

Not only is there no mechanism to release the restraints up there but B&M is overly redundant with their safety systems on their restraints.

At least two locking systems would have had to fail for that to happen. That would have equaled "Very Bad Things (tm)" and would probably have not allowed the restraints to ever lock again without having said systems replaced.

I Snap Flyers

Well, I've never had anything come loose on me before. But, I do recall that the old restraint design (it used to be quite similar to what is on Ocean Motion, now, with a belt) dang near got an old girlfriend (just a girl who happened to be a friend amongst a group) of mine killed! We were all barely big enough to be riding, anyway. But, we'd unbuckle the belt about halfway up the lift. We'd all take a seat by ourselves, and turn sideways in the seat. Tricia, a skinny little thing, wound up completely on top of the bar after the climb to the turn around. Who that little girl stayed with her seat is beyond me. But, just at the crest, she was virtually upside down, holding on to it. Scared the begeez's out of all of us. At that moment, it was a lesson learned by all of us. I thtink we were all around the age of 10. those were the days when parents didn't have to worry so much about their kids being "stolen".

***EDIT***

Sorry, I guess that would help, right? Blue Streak.

Dougster-what ride are you talking about?

Actually, reports of Mantis restraints opening a few clicks are true as far as I can tell. I think Dave mentioned somewhere how it's possible too.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

Jeff is that reason for the installation of the seat belts to Mantis?

I assume so. Wouldn't want anyone falling out, I wouldn't think.

ok.... back to stapling on TTD, i was just there today, (august 1st) and absolutely no stapling was going on, both times i rode it i was completely confortable... and if anyone was there after the storm rolled through or as the storm was rolling throughg, i was the guy on the ramp trying to get the wave started!!!! that was me, i was being crazy... i have no voice anymore, and when i rode it when it was having the rollback problems around 10:30pm, the coaster i was in paused at the top for a good full second or two... it was awesome... but ill still have to say front seat it the best, except the bug that hiuts you in your face... god damn di that sting!

Ive had a similar things happen on Corkscrew. On the chain lift the shoulder harness came up a good 4 or 5 notches (1/2 way up). I pulled it back down and had no idea if it locked or not, I prayed that it locked and pushed hard on the seat in front of me with my feet. It did lock down but for a second I actually thought that I was going to die. I still think that it needs a back up for the shoulder harnesses.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Are your ready for some speed? We've got 120 miles per hour! Are you ready to get vertical? We've got 420 feet. Are you ready for the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world?! ARE YOU READY FOR TOP THRILL DRAGSTER?!?
they really do need to do something with those corkscrew harnesses. when i went on it i had my family jewels crunched.

Guess what? I got a fever! And the only prescription... is more cowbell!

I visited Cedar Point on 8/12 and they only got like one little notch extra on my lap bar and only a little tug on my seat belt. The ride was relly enjoyable.

On the B&M restraints, I've had them come up one click. I think that happens if the mechanism that allows the restraint to ratchet when locking is sort of between clicks. It seems like it is in position, but really isn't. If you pull up on it enough, or if the ride forces do it for you, it will come up and lock into the next position.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

a ride op at sros at sfdl pulled me seat belt really tight out of spight, i had my harness really loose and the seat belt hardly touching me, he pushed the harness down and pulled the belt really tight, little do they know when i was on the lift i loosed my belt alot, heheheh

the second time going on ttd, i got stapled pretty bad (let me leave it at this, my hair got pinched). but i quickly forgot after a little repositioning in the station and the anticipation before launching. even after being done i still didnt notice since it is so amazing.

Last time I rode Dragster I was stapled badly and we were stuck in the train for a 1/2 an hour bad experience.

Jeez, maybe somebody should just write to the park (I am not sure who to write to, but I am sure somebody here does) on behalf of GTTP. It probably wont change anything, but it's worth a try. :)
Never been stapled.... so i dont have a prob, and im friends with alot of the dragster crew (standing 4 hours in the station with about 15 other people is quite an experience)

"C'mon, get off the rails guys, listen to the guy with the Disaster Transport uniform on!"

I get stapled EVERY time. And whats worse, I learned that even if you ask nicely to have them not push too hard, they'll staple you even harder.

"Keep arms down, head back, and hold on......."

Well.... I think the main reason here is, I slouch in the seat slightly, and I am a pretty bulky guy, I've got some big quad muscles, so all the times ive rode TTD the bar always stops at my legs, with it just bearly touching my stomach. Its plesant... Now Mean Streak... damn I swear that crew has to be the worst ride crew in the park, the person at the Line entrance is always a *****, the ride attendants usually are mean to me...

:( I didn't do anything wrong! :(
