Day 3 of spring, but winter's not ready to let go yet -- I had to scrape a thick crust of ice off my car this morning.

"Why is it that the worst snow storm to come threw this area of ohio this "winter" was not when it was winter but spring?"
For the same reason that it can be hot and humid in May and snow hard in November. Climatological seasons do not match up with astronomical definitions. It is normal in this part of the country for winter and summer to be climatologically longer than fall and spring.
