Space Spiral

I have always come here for CP info and news but i have never noticed this topic or question, forgive me if it has been answered. Does anyone know why they leave the car on Space Spiral half way up the tower when it is not in use???

I notice that to on the webcam. It might be to keep the ride more in balance when winter comes because there can be high winds. But thats just a guess.

Yeah all amusement parks do it. Geauga Lake always did it too. I think they call it "offseason mode".

it has to with the counter weight inside. It were the car is balanced best.

I thought they removed the cabin for the winter. It comes apart in four sections, as I recall.

^No. It stays on there all the time.

Well, it does come apart in sections... if you're removing the attraction or when it's first installed. But otherwise, like Craig said, it's always there.

It's there so bad employees don't sneak into it somehow and do what two employees did in the snoopy bounce a few years back....and also for the counter weight reason.

HA HA I remember that Snoopy Bounce Story!! Makes me remember the good times of working at Cedar Point.

^Clever thinking, but I think the cables and the counter weight are higher priorities. :)

Well we're on the subject of Space Spiral, I still think the cabin should be repainted along with the entrance/exit ramps. A blue would look nice. The tower looks fine, but everything else needs a fresh look. This is just one of those things that always get me.

The tower should look fine... they just repainted it for this season.

^I think it was last season, but that's why I said that. Plus I just like the tower being plain white. It's clean, and doesn't show anything left over by the seagulls.

I love that the cabin is red. If they repaint it, they should leave it red. I say screw repainting it though. Just get a new one with A/C, windows you can see out of and a spiel you can actually understand.

Ahh, so it was for 2006... It seems like it was just for this season though... wow.

Air conditioning (and heating when they start a CP winterfest) would make this a very popular ride! Time to open the 2nd floor! They can do this can't they? I don't know, I only visit here. :)

I remember it being open one day in 2005 or 2006... I rode up there just because I didn't know if I'd ever get the chance again.

I'm guessing staffing has a lot to do with them never using the upper deck. Much like running only one side of Gemini.

I know this is about space spiral, but is the snoopy bounce thing really true?? or just a silly rumor passed down by employees...

If so, how often does THAT happen at cedar point? (with employees OR guests)
