Sore Backs?

For the employees of roller coasters that have lapbars, I was wondering if you ever get sore backs? I mean, you are bending over non-stop for hours at a time. Maybe it's just me, but does your back get sore?

Oh yeah, it does. It's sore by the afternoon. But I try not to worry about it. I just think about the MS and BS crew that actually has to bend all the way over to check the train. I'd take a slightly sore back over that anyday.

I never had a sore back when I was on Mine Ride but after my first day on Mean Streak I was pretty sore. It stopped happening after I worked there for a while but every so often it starts to bug me.

Sore backs are often remidied by friends who give great back rubs...right Brent?

I'm assume that the chicks are prone to getting back rubs more readily than the guys though.

You may assume, but as Brent can testify, when I sit at controls it's always nice when I lean over and give back rubs. Then you just want to forget about the ride. I love to give back rubs, more than I love getting them.

Are you the "hair petter" also, Sabrina?
Maybe I'll have to be on your crew next year, Sabrina. :)

leaning over controls sabrina? hmmm....
hahaha, sabrina dont lean over controls, take advice from the magnum crew, have ur "victim" come into the air conditioned control booth (or better yet the eletrical room) and then u can get some awsome back rubs. How many ride ops can fit into a control boot, hehehe?

Ah...but even as a guest I know that Gemini's control booths are out in the open. No air conditioning there, people.

Certainly it depends on the coaster, and while you'll be sore for a bit, you tend to get used to it after awhile. But a back rub is always a bonus!
You know back in feb. when I was asked where I wanted to be at DP my first choice was Talon and my second was Steel Force. I asked for that becuase I thought Talon would would be easier and I would get sore backs at Steel Force all the time but I never did. I ended up being transfer up to Talon twice once on the saturday night. All I can see it I am glad I am at Steel Force. Up at Talon there are so many people and since they waited over an hour (at Steel Force once the 3rd train is added our line was never longer than 30 minutes or so) people were really rude. Plus the park takes forever to clean at the top of the park.

I'm sorry...I haven't been keeping up as well as I should have been. You could ask anyone, my back rubs are great. I even know a couple of Brits that would wait in line at Louies. Hair Petter? uh...no...most of the Gemini workers sweat too much. As far as the control booth goes...Gemini was the perfect height for back rubs cause all I had to do was lean over a bit and attack. Gemini booth is horriable, not only is it in the open air, there is also no sitting or leaning. Poo.

Oh hell yea you get a sore back because you have to bend over all day checking the lap bars. You also have sore legs from walking up the lift of the ride (Magnum, 289 stairs that was the longest hike I ever took.) You are sore from that for a least a few days.

289, thats the tallest walkable point here at the point-said way to many times at Magnum, LOL. ne ways ya lift walks are awsome, rite matt? especially when were doin a walk down from the CROWN! ill never forget emily"why hasnt the train come to the top of the second hill, i wanna send this thing!" the best was the back rub circle after the walk down. who's got the pics from that cuz i dont have ne from that day, steph sitll has those somewhere in 1106

You can also get a sore back from bending over to scoop goat poop all day. :)
