Something new....

^^^ Cedar Point already has more coasters than any park on the entire planet. Sure, all of us would love more, but considering it's the best park in the world I think people have plenty of coasters to ride once they attend.

Attendance had sure better pick up in a hurry to afford all of the rides that they seem to need Jackie.

Move to where we live, attend the park we have here, and then complain about lack of rides. We have NOTHING compared to CP.

I was going to join the message board for Carowinds but they whine too much about lack of stuff and blame it on CF. I think folks need to understand that with our economy in the shape and the direction it is going, we should do our best to enjoy and support the local parks we have. CF and all the other amusement companies are very worried that they will not meet their attendance goals this year due to gas prices/ folks not travelling. I think it will be a while before companies can invest without fear into new rides. I was happy to hear Carowinds is getting a "hand me down" Boomerang from GL. Better to pass it to another park than to let it rot.

bad, but thinking makes it so. --Hamlet

I personally think that if cp makes more coasters you might not get to ride them all. If you go during a busy summer morning. Say the park now has 20 coasters. The lines for the rides would be too long. You would not be able to ride all the coasters in a single day.

Actually, the opposite is true - if you have more coasters, the crowds will disperse among them, and the lines will therefore be shorter. What you're saying would only be true if CP's attendance increased with each new ride added. It doesn't.

Yeah, duh. I didnt even think of that.

^Which is why Cedar Point has one of the highest if not the highest capacity as far as amusement parks go.

To set the record straight. I know what Apollo's Chariot is, and what Sheikra / Griffon is.

And I definitely think that Maverick helps other coaster lines out. Your able to walk right on Magnum so often, and Mantis can be a walk on as well.

Millennium Force lines quite easily stand under an hour long.

During a busy summer day they might be busy as can be, but you can still ride a lot of specific rides and not have a long wait time (usually the less cool rides like Maxair, Skyhawk, Wicked Twister, Power Tower, etc).

The lines are all at Raptor, Millennium Force, Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster. Throw another big coaster in there and the lines will get even smaller.

If you really think that, then you haven't been to very many parks.

I definitely think its the best amusement park in the world. When I go to a park I go to ride things. Not look at trees. Sure Busch Gardens and Holiday World are great parks with a certain charm but as far as sheer entertainment goes Cedar Point can't be matched.

^Now your getting somewhere. An Amusement Park is not a theme park (HW and BG are theme parks,) calling CP the best Amusement Park is something that is defensible claim. With hacking off the theme parks you lose the Disneys, Busch Gardens, Holiday World and Universals of the world.

I cannot honestly say that CP is the best amusment park in the world, do to the fact that I have only been to a handfull of amusment parks. But I can say that it is the best out of those few that I have been to. Which are the former SFWoA or Geauga Lake, Disney world (all of their parks), and Universal in Florida.

As I have mentioned before, Cedar Point is my only obsession. Sure I like other things, but if I had a choice of doing anything on any given day...I would choose going to CP. It is almost unhealthy and definately crazy. lol. So I really do think even if I have been to every single amusment park/theme park out there, Cedar Point would still be at the top of my list. :)

Oh please... we've been through these silly differences before. Calling Holiday World a theme park (no offense, Paula) is like saying Applebees is like Medieval Times. Trying to differentiate the two as separate types of attractions is lunacy.

Cedar Point sucks at too many things to be the best anything.

^^^^^ I actually do think that. I personally go to parks to ride coasters and I can't think of any other park with a better selection than the Point. Not only that, CP is operation oriented, they're running all the trains even when it's not crowded. Not only do they have a massive coaster collection with short lines, I actually love the park's theming and atmosphere. I'm not really too big a fan of "theme" parks. I think the theme of an amusement park with minimal theming is more appealing to me because it emphasizes the coasters themselves as the beauty of the park. The park is also on a beautiful lake with a beach and you really feel like you're getting away. Again, we all have our own opinions, but I like some of the things at Cedar Point that others consider faults.

I think you are spot on when you mention the lake, beach, and "you feel like you're getting away". This helps to set CP apart from the crowd, in addition to a world class line-up of rides. I would also add that the midway layout of CP is a plus. Makes for easy movement of people and navigation by newcomers. I've been to parks where it seems to be a pretzel of different trails.

There is nothing wrong with thinking CP is the best park out there. I think it is and so do a lot of people. Some people think differently though.

^There isn't anything wrong with that and you are entitled to that opinion. Personally I feel that a lot of people get so caught up in what they like about the park, that they don't allow themselves to see the things that the park doesn't do well, or that it does poorly.

Its just hard to be objective when you are stuck in that "Cedar Point is the best, most awesomest park in the WORLD!!!!" mindset.

Even if this was true thats what Cedar Point would want. Guest would want to stay an extra day or come back later in the season to get in what they missed. That means more resort guests.
