Alright, so I've been hired for the front desk at hotel breakers, and I'll be arriving April 22nd...
Anyone who has worked there in the past know what I should expect from this position?
Also I heard that the hotel has rooms for hotel employees, is this true? and if so are there any advantages to getting one of those rooms than a regular dorm room for apartment? What would all of you suggest getting?
Well, I guess I'll see all of you this summer, and if anyone has any suggestions as to anything I should bring or do to make my stay at CP better, let me know!
Stay in Twin, you will have 3 other roommates, but you will have your own bathroom and air conditioning. I liked staying at the hotel a lot better than living in the dorms on point (Gold).
I liked being at the desk, I worked there for two full summers and some weekends last year. You will be standing pretty much most of the day and usually have guests coming one after eachother during the busy months, but you usually will not be bored. Make sure you buy comfortable shoes!
The computer program for check in/out isn't hard to use, and since you're getting there early, you'll have plenty of time to practice on it. It's not a bad job at all, some of my friends are trying to get me to come back for weekends again this season...we'll see. ;)
If you have any questions, my contact info is in my profile. :)

Ahhh, looks like good ole Lisa beat me to it! :P
As a warning, it'll be hotter than hell in there, so if you have long hair, be prepared to pull it back on a daily basis. Also, I can't stress a point that Lisa made enough -- buy comfortable shoes!!!! :)
As for staying at the hotel, you can only live there from Memorial Day to Labor Day (correct me, if I'm wrong Ms. CP Junkie, Lisa :P). So when you get there in April, you may not be able to live there right away. That's the only disadvantage. It is definitely worth it overall, though. Nice to be able to roll outta bed 10 minutes before you're supposed to be downstair, working. Feel free to contact me on any messengers or by email if you have any other questions. :)
There's my 2 cents, plus some. ;)
LISA -- You gonna work there for Halloweekends again?

Kristy - I told Jason it's a possibility, but more likely than not...NO! LOL I will be there as a guest. :)
You can live in the hotel starting like the 1st or 2nd weekend of May until Labor day. So yeah, you'll be living probably in commons for the first few weeks you are there, but if you can move into the hotel, do it! Like Kristy said, there's nothing better than rolling out of bed 10 minutes before you have to be at work. And yes, it will be hot up at the desk, so just be prepared!
Again, any other questions or anything, contact me on any messenger services.

I'm used to the heat. I worked at the amusment park near my house for the past 2 summers, so I'm used to being out in the hot all day long... I hope I'm able to get a room in the hotel becuse that would be nice to go up to a nice, cool, air conditioned room.
So are we talken the smallest room they have and squeezing 4 people into it? lol
Do either of you think not havning a car there with me will turn out to be a hassle? Unfortunently I'm coming from so far away, it cant come with me... (well, it could, but it's like a 16hr drive, and I'm WWWAAAAYYYYY to lazy to do that alone, I hate driving to the grocery store down the street)
It's because the first three letters are "w". :)
What amusement park did you work at? Where are you coming from? 16 hours doesn't sound like something I'd want to do alone. I found it nice to have my own car and it makes for less of a hastle if you need to go shopping or get somewhere off point, but CP does provide busses to the store (althou on a limited schedule) and other people who work there have cars, and might be nice and take you to the store with them. ;)
Since you're going to be there early you should be able to get a room in the hotel fairly easily. Make sure when you process in that you let someone in accom (probably Sue or Mary) know that you want to live in the hotel when it opens. The rooms actually aren't that small, they're a decent size. Just make sure you specify that you want TWIN and not the rotunda. :)

:) I lied... It's only about 12 hrs away... I just looked at the distence on mapquest... I'm comming from Nashua, NH. It's a city on the mass/NH border about a 1/2hr away from boston.
I worked at all small little amusment park here called canobie lake (www.canobie.com). I loved it there, so thought it would be great to work at a park a million times bigger. Pluss, it gives me a reason to move out of my house for 6 months :) . Right now I work at Target, and I love the people I work with there, so it's going to be hard leaving them, hopefully I'm able to return in November. I'm sure I'll meet alot of cool people at Cedar point too. And I figure if your all boring loosers, I can just come home ;) ... jk
So right when I get there and meet Mary, I wont say "hi, how are you", "Nice to meet you", or something like that... I'll just say "some girl told me to ask you for a TWIN room, not the rotunda".
...and that joke was funnier in my own head, but I'll leave it there anyways...
One question, I'm a guy, and you know what guy's cant go without... Yeah, thats TV. Do the rooms happen to have either a TV or cable if I bring my own do you know? I know your thinking I'm dumb because I'm working in only the best Park in the world, and who sits around watching tv? But you have to understand I'll be lost without my epesodes of Alias, and The amazing Race. :) Yeah, I'm a geek
I've actually heard of Canobie before, but I've never been there. Moving out of the house for a few months is a good thing. :) Yes you will meet lots of cool people at CP.
Yeah, just be like "Hi Mary, this girl told me to live in Twin..." ;) Mary is really nice, and she'll try to help you as much as she can to get you into Twin.
Yes, the rooms have TVs in them with cable, so you'll be able to watch Alias and The Amazing Race. While you're at it, you should watch Lost also. ;) It's just a TV, no DVD or VCR. Either you can bring them, or hope one of your roomies has one.
Any other questions?

Lol, yeah, 12 hrs... Pluss, with my luck, my car would die 1/2 way there... It's a 94 Toyota Corolla... It's died so many times on me, I dont trust it...
Good luck with that 35 hr thing... The furthest I'v ever drove is 5 hrs to New York. I was going nuts then, and I was with 2 other people!
And as for lost, I think I have every epesode on my TiVo waiting for me to watch them...
eeh mine is an 84 toyota celica.. i wouldnt trust it, but it's in the shop right now making sure everything is safe. (And my parents say toyotas last forever.. lol) but yeah.. i drove straight through to death valley.. so i'm not too worried. (That was like 22 hrs.. I wouldn't ever do that again..sleeping pills DO wear off!)

I asked about housing in Breakers during my interview today and how much it would cost as opposed to other housing. Turns out its the same price as the dorms.
It's the same price as the cheap dorms (Cedars and Gold), but the newer dorms and the apartments cost more. The cheap dorms don't have AC or cable.
Good luck to all of you driving w/ a not so hot car, I hope you make it!
