Thanks for the link to the Dragster H20 video.I should probably wait to ride it before saying this, but I'm disappointed. I thought it would be more like the Proslide mat racer at HW... I hate the covered helixes at the top... waste of speed and ruins part of the racing element to the ride since each lane is slightly different.
.
You wont be disappointed. This was one of the best mat racer slides I have been on! Unlike Kings Island's version, this one has much speed in the helix. The slide is also very easy to get on and start racing.
Well, I took the family to CP for the first of many trips this season, arriving this past Thursday (5/31) and leaving Sunday. Stayed in Camper Village as usual.
Soak city was much improved, IMO. The body slides (numbers 5,6,7, or as they are now more likely to be called, Purple, Orange, and Blue respectively) were considerably faster now that they've been sanded and painted. At one point on both purple and blue, I went so high up the wall I hit dry spots and nearly flipped back over. Orange also gives nice airtime on the last two drops, in memory of the speed slides!
The mat slide was better than I expected, but still does not stack up to the bigger, wider one at HW. I prefer slide F, which has a decreasing radius turn and generates significant g-force.
One thing I found irritating.. my son, who just barely cleared 48" in bare feet (hooray!) got a wristband from the gate. It was the same 48" wristband they give you inside the park, except they have a special set of initials they write on there in green permanent marker. The purpose of this is to indicate that the wristband came from SC, not CP, since SC requires you to clear the 48" in bare feet.
Well, none of the lifeguards at the top of the slide had any idea that this process was in place. So I had to educate them. This became quite frustrating, to the point that I went back to the supervisor at the gate and explained the problem. She said "we know what it means" and I said, "I know YOU do, but the slide attendants DON'T". A real lack of communication and training.
I even had one lifeguard on the body slides tell me that he was too short, when we were about 4 stairs from the top. Really? You can measure someone that far away just by looking at them???
Other than this hiccup, SC was great this year. It helped that the place was completely dead and we didn't wait even one second for a single ride. I bet I rode 150 rides over two short afternoon stays.
