Soak City Reports, Anyone?

Am I the only one who likes visiting Soak City? Has anyone ridden the new mat racers yet? What are they like? I have not seen pics or anything. I particularly like the huge mat slide at HW and hope it has as many lanes, but I fear it will be much smaller and only have 4.

Also, how are the refinished slides? I remember seeing them sanding/filling cracks in the joints last fall, and I'm hopeful that translates into a smoother, faster ride experience. Anyone?

I went opening day, but alone with my 2-year-old, I didn't do much.

The mat racer has eight lanes.

I like Soak City.

Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair

...all the water from Soak City has saturated the surrounding ground so much. That's why Magnum's sinking.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

We spent Saturday at the other opening day - Wildwater Kingdom. Hopefully we'll get out to Soak City soon.

Anything different at WK, Walt? We'll be making many trips there this summer with the little ones.

I had a few friends go that said they really enjoy the new paint on the slides and the mat racer is a big plus. I haven't been back to check it out yet but I am a big fan of mat slides. Disney has a lot at Blizzard Beach and they are a lot more fun than the traditional tube slides and I'm all for seeing more of them.

Can't say, Kevin. That was my first time there. For what it's worth, we thought it was a really nice park.

Edit - Now that I think about it, based on what was installed at Cedar Point, I think the lockers were new. :)

A read a few months ago that the bar by the wave pool got re-modeled and is now called Tropical Waters.

I don't wanna get off topic too much but I'm really hoping we see a new slide next year with Ouimet being the CEO. It was packed everyday I went last year.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

It is a nice park. Very clean, and the entrance is very scenic and impeccably maintained. We always have a great time when we visit. I hadn't heard about any new additions.

Check out the CP website blog that Becca put up....there is one about Dragster H20, a video.

I went to Soak City this weekend. The park looks refreshed, Dragster H2O was awesome, and there are new lockers at the park. There were a few changes I noticed:

-The slide dispatch rate seems much longer than in years past. The lines were moving much slower for the old slides and Eerie Falls.

-The locker rental has gone up $2. I don't believe there are per hour rental lockers in the park.

-The old lazy river had a lot of debris floating around in it.

-The main food stand serves frozen burgers and the frozen french fries. I guess the food is "Always frozen, never fresh".

-At the end of the day, the park looks very nice! All of the slides look brand new in the old side of the park. The lifeguards were also very friendly and helpful.

Glad to hear the mat racer is 8 lanes. I hope it's as fun as the one at HW. Pretty good airtime on that last drop if you know how to ride it correctly.

As for the food in the park, I'm one of the few who doesn't care. We always stay in our RV at camper village and have our own food. Much better than anything CP can offer.

That one usually does. It's hard to keep stuff out of it when so many trees are directly over it.

In this video, it looks like it has 6.

I like Soak City it's a good waterpark. We went over the weekend. The painted slides look very nice. Dragster H20 is fun. There are new lockers at both entrances. The group of lockers near the slides appear to be the old lockers. I noticed a token machine next to these for self serve. They turned the former locker rental counter by the bathhouse into a small shop.

I'd like to thank whoever turned in the cell phone my wife lost when entering Soak City. We retieved it at the entrance after checking again when we left for the day. Thanks again.

We were there yesterday. It was nearly empty due to it only being a high of 68. Dragster H2O is six lanes.

The only reason I go to Soak City is for the basketball hoops.

Thanks for the link to the Dragster H20 video.

I should probably wait to ride it before saying this, but I'm disappointed. I thought it would be more like the Proslide mat racer at HW... I hate the covered helixes at the top... waste of speed and ruins part of the racing element to the ride since each lane is slightly different.

Now, I'm going to be really upset if it also has a 48" height requirement, which is preposterous. The soak city website just says water slides are 48", and does not break it down by individual ride.

KI Soak city, which has a nearly identical mat slide, has a 42" height requirement. I hope not to disappoint my 47.5" (bare feet) son this weekend. He was looking forward to this.
