After reading a couple posts on here about there being nothing to do at night after the park closes I began to think about what CP could do. I have also heard a lot of people in the park complain that after CP closes at 10 they have nothing to do but to go back to their "crappy" hotel room.
The first thing I thought of was Soak City. I think this idea could be relatively cheap and fill resort rooms. What if at night Soak City was transformed to a late night club atmosphere. It could be open from 10:30 to 2 A.M. Obviously there would be lights by the pool's and slides so lifeguards could see, but on the paths have colored lights and strobes. Have speakers playing good new music that people actually enjoy and dance to. Give out beach balls. Just make it one big party.
Besides the cost of hiring more lifeguards it would be cheap to do. Just add some flood lights around all the pools, and on the walk ways add some cool lighting. Maybe even some fog.
This would give people a reason to come and spend a few nights in the resorts.
Is there reasons why this wouldn't work? Anyone want to add things to do? I was just throwing ideas out there. It sounds like fun to me and it would be something I would come and do. Anyone?

Hey, alcohol and water that you can drown in! It worked wonderfully for the Flats in Cleveland! What could possibly go wrong?
Wait...you weren't suggesting that this be a sober activity, right?
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
I know that the pools and hot tubs at the resorts are open an hour longer after the park closes. So is the challenge park.
When I stayed at Breakers a few nights ago we came back at 10 and crashed. Aren't these people tired after a long day at the park?
^^They sell beer during the day. I didn't say anything about alcohol. If need be, just dont sell it.
^Some people don't spend all day running from coaster to coaster like some of us do. Some only go after 6 for the discount tickets so some might not be tired. This could just be another reason to come to the park.

Ya I would agree that booze and water don't really combine too well, and if you remove the Miller from the equation I don't see that being very popular; the people that aren't so tired they just want to sleep are likely looking for something a little more low key to end the evening.
I do however agree there needs to be something open late for people to partake in. Even having Friday's open until 1 or 2 would be nice. Mom and dad can put the younglings to sleep upstairs and have a nightcap and enjoy some simple bar type events like trivia night or a weekly poker contest. Maybe CP could pony up the few hundred dollars and get the MLB channels so people can watch the west coast games. Just something... anything besides sitting in your room paying $10 an hour to play Nintendo or watch a movie.
How about something even simpler; form a partnership with the Thirsty Pony or Lyman harbor. Both are right down the causeway and CP can offer their guests some late night options at no expense to them.

Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."
At least keep the pools open longer. Whenever we are there, they are having to kick ALOT of people out of the pools at closing. Thats not right! I'd say that keeping them open until 1am would be good.

They try to do this type of thing at The Beach near Kings Island and from what I hear its a bust. They also do Dive In movies, same deal, it mostly a bust.
As far as nothing to do after the park closes, Challenge Park stays open an hour after the park closes. The last few times we were there, Challenge park was a ghost town starting about 30 minutes before the park closed. Their may have been a few people playing mini golf.
I think it would be a bust. If they want to make a buck on something like this maybe at the Breakers and Sandcastle suites open a swim up bar. I don't think a swim up bar would work at Lighthouse point, Castaway Bay, or Breaker's Express.
Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.
That would be a big issue for the life guards.
It would be a lot harder to see people when it's dark out. I know they have lighting, but it still makes it harder to see people.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
The pools outside are under a lot of those peoples rooms that want to sleep, I can here them up on the 9th floor, so I don't see that happening. I like the idea of opening SC to adults after hours on weekends even if it was only the newer side with the bar in the lazy river. Light it up like StarLight and there would be plenty of light to get around safely. They could have music and set up a dance floor in front of the lockers, there is lots of room at the entrance. Might be a good money maker for Cp selling snacks and beer, TGIF can only handle so many people and it is always packed on weekends. The one problem I see is people leaving their kids unattended in the rooms, maybe kids running the halls out of control with no supervision.

They should just leave the pool open all hours of the day/night except for one hour to clean it out, add chemicals and do whatever else. I have been to many hotels that just put a few signs that say if you enter the pool with no lifeguard on duty, that you are your own responsibility and x property is not liable.
Cedar point should NOT have:
Soak city themed to anything like a "nightclub". The things that can happen there at night should only be kept safe inside the hotels.....
we dont need drunk and or naked people running around the water park doing things, I cant mention, to themselves by the slides.
Lifeguards cant see well at night anyway.
CP resorts, like breakers, should have a late night party, for all ages, to come down to the pool and they can serve alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks at a tiki bar, like SC has. make the bar adults only, though. the pools cna have anyone swimming in them, and play music that all people like, not R&B or rap, or music that teens only like....
it can be open to 1am and it will post closing times so lifegaurds dont have to chase people out of the pools..............:)
^^So do you think that CF would be willing to endure a wrongful death lawsuit to test the strength of that waiver?
The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.
I don't know about the club thing. Staying open later, I can get behind. We went yesterday and the park was terribly busy even after Soak City closed. It would have been nice to stay a little longer and let the crowds die down a bit.
Love the OP's idea on paper, but yes, there are too many reasons why it wouldn't work. The adults typically like to go to water parks to get some sun anyway, right? Can you even imagine how much people would complain that it's too cold near the lake, even on warm days?
I do think Cedar Point could have success leaving their dry park open all night though, say until 5AM. Advertise it well, and do it once per year, sometime in July. If it becomes popular, expand it over the years like Halloweekends.
Only the most popular rides could be open, and only season pass holders and resort guests could be allowed access. Even if it was a flop at first, CP would likely draw enough additional pass holders and resort guests to make it worth their while.
I'm sure there are many other people out there like me. I love Cedar Point at night, and I'd buy a season pass each year for this perk alone.
I also never understood why CP closes at 10PM on Fridays!
Have the park open till 11PM on Fridays and 12AM on Saturdays during the IN season.
They could also have night ERT just like they have morning ERT for resort guests and passholders. That way resort guests could stay in the park from 9-11 on a normal day.
Sandcastle waterpark in Pittsburgh has a sunday jukebox night. Also movie nights that are at the wave pool.

Cedar Point used to have Soak City nights for employees (with the swim up bar open) a few times per season.. not sure if that is still the case.

How about a special ERT for just resort guests only, no season passes allowed unless you are staying at the resorts. Keep the ERT for all at 9am, but an hour after the park closes for resort guests only, at certain coasters listed just like for the morning ERT, with a resort guest card having to be shown to enter the line.
There has to be more incentive for people to dump some cash at the resorts with the economy in this condition. I'm sure the season pass people would be pissed, ( i am a season pass holder myself ),but so are the resort guests every morning when their special ERT perk for staying onsite and paying an arm and a leg for a room, is not so special. You have to do something to get return guests to fill those rooms! Who spends more money at the park, pass holders or resort guests? Thats not a hard question to answer!

Not a good idea. To have a night club, you need some alcohol. But people would be drunk as hell and the whole place would be crazy. A family nightclub party is not fun at all because there are all little kids running around. If you want a party, make one yourself. ;)
Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc
Soak city at night...bad idea.
But they do need some kind of night time entertainment. After the park closes(specially 8pm), there is nothing to do.
