So When Will We Find out?

I heard Saturday, I heard Labor Day and I heard today. When are we gonna find out about this "400 ft. hydro-launched, Intamin, hyper/proto/4D coaster"?

Thanks for not flaming, I just wanted to see if you all knew something I didn't. :)

CP ROCKS!!!!

I would guess they will have a big press day by invitation only. Once those people who are on the invite list (Jeff presumably is on the list) know the day I am sure everyone else will know the day.

I wouldn't say that. The MF announcement came completely out of the blue. No dog-and-pony show annoucement. Same for WT.

Assuming they do the same for this new ride as they did for WT, make sure you are a member of FunTimes. You'll get the email when it's announced.

I did not know that. Hmmmm.
Just check the website everyday.

There will be advanced warning for the announcement ... whenever it is.

This just in:

The Sandtown Register has obtained uncorroborated information from the Lemon Chill Guy, that amusement industry giant, Cedar Point, will in fact be using non-traditional means to announce its new monster ride for the 2003 season.

It's been discovered that after months of negotiation, Cedar Point has finally reached an agreement with Jeff 'Putz' Jones, webmaster of notable internet coaster sites including Guide to the Point and Coaster Buzz, regarding conditions of the announcement. Jeff has agreed to allow Cedar Point to use the world-famous Sub-Division/Luau Cam for this once-in a lifetime event.

Activities of the evening will include a ceremonial pouring of concrete footers on Jeff's lawn followed by hoola-dancing, a huge pig-roast, the announcement itself, and finally Dick Kinzel's karaoke hour.

The date is set for the next really nice Saturday night when the moon is the right shade of yellow to match the supports of the new ride.

(Disclaimer: Don't ask Jeff if he's having a party. This was very fake. :) )

Cat's out of the bag!

I doubt they'll have any event. There really isn't much need to. For MF the press kits hit the mail and they sent out a press release two days earlier indicating they'd do a satellite feed with the promo.

Are you having a party Mr. Jeff P.? (I guess the P stands for Par-tay!)

Jeff, is it going to be this month?

I am guessing soon.

They enlarged the website link to halloweekends, with another banner like the link to WT it would provide easy navigation. The beach cam will freeze for very long periods of time, maybe because of a change in scenery.

With all the verticle construction people are talking, just look above, some local news agencies have begun to run stories on the parts that have arrived.

I wouldn't be so sure about an announcement soon...I've heard some people say that we've still got a long way to go.

------------------
June 28th: LocoBazooka Tour (Sevendust headlining)
July 11th: Korn, Puddle of Mudd, and Deadsy

when they tell us they tell us.
There is a camera pointed in the direction of the construction. The only thing is...it's pointed right at some trees that are in the way. The camera is secluded in a little shack...yes, it looks like a luau shack...with a plastic bag over it. Check out the area by the Super Himalaya. It is only up about five and a half feet off the ground in that little shack...pointed toward the sky. Oops...sorry if no one was supposed to notice it!!! Well...then again, maybe it's for Halloweekends!? Who knows really!?
I was talking to a maintenence worker at Valleyfair yesterday and asked him why CP is delaying the announcement for their new ride even though construction has started and he they haven't signed all of the contracts yet. It doesn't make sense to me that some contracts hasn't been signed yet if they started construction on it already!
And why would this VALLEYFAIR maintenence worker know more than you and me?
Probably don't want to announce anything so they can have the fastest and tallest to break the Guiness Book of World Records for 2003. That's probably why they are constructing this so early...and fast. So the announcement and ride will be finished near the end of the year to break any other record that possibly could compete with this new structure. By the way... I'd like to see a trail going through the island to frontier trail because with the new structure, the Corkscrew midway is going to get REAL small here REAL soon!!!

I heard a rumor from an employee about Cedar Point announcing the new ride sometime during the Superbowl. I figure we'll eventually figure it out by that point if people have the means to fly over the park and take pictures though. For some reason I have doubts they would wait so long to make an announcement though.
The thing that upsets me is we probably won't get to watch the construction online like we did with MF and WT. I doubt they'll start taking pictures of construction and putting them on the website before they even announce it, which I have heard won't be happening for awhile.
