I know this is the burning question everyone wants to know the answer too? 1st year trains had the cool Dragster stockcar theming added. Not sure when, but they simply disappeared. Anybody know why?
My guess it was a weight issue, or maybe a capicity issue, and where are they now? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Tire sheared off, could have really hurt someone, they removed the theming and now at least the tires are sitting in the Disaster Transport building. There's seats on the former mounting points now, it's not coming back.

I don't know if it's just me, but I didn't really like the tires and engine. I think having the extra row of seats is much better.
Something I wish would come back though is the smoke.
the tires shearing off is complete bull$#it real Top Fuel dragsters use live axles and create alot more force.. they actually register on a geiger counter.. they dont shear off.. there is more too it than the one wheel coming off..... a mount could easily be engineered to not break or fall off.. I WILL NEVER buy this story why it didn't come back i will the bloggers would reveal the truth and put it too rest and I also wonder why the engines are still even at the point

The axels on the Dragster trains were not live axels but just steel rods. Also take into account that the tires on a real car actually meet the road, where the ones on the trains were occilating during the launch.
The axel sheared and the rim and tire came off. Plain and simple. Believe if it you want, but several people on this site have not only seen the broken axel mount, but may have been working AT the ride when it happened.

im not saying there set up did not happen im saying it could have been easily engineered.. by the way an axle on the ground has more opposing force than a tube mount floating even with harmonics envolved.... it has vibration and stress from different directions as well as the twisting stress of 7000 horsepower and immediate torque... 0 to 330MPH in 4.3 seconds it is consideralby more stress than Dragster. I'm trying to find the letter from Strange enterprises the leader in the industry ill post it when i come across it .. Cedar point obv. used low tensil steel with no nickel content and i'm sure it wasn't case hardened shot peened or stress relieved.. i know my field i possess a degree in metallurgical inspection
Well your degree obviously isn't in economics if you think that an amusement park is going to use a track-grade axel as theming on a roller coaster.

Just wondering...why would an insturument measuring radioactivity have anything to do with that? I'm just wondering...I think I'm missing something.

And the engines are behind the shed that's in-between Mean Streak.

A Geiger Counter is used to measure radioactivity.

Actually it's a seismometer that measures earthquakes.
Why does this topic persist? Without getting overly complicated, there was an unforeseen system response in the 9th piece of launch track (where the catchcar brakes start) that produced a vibration that when transfered to the train just so happened to be at the natural frequency of the axle with slicks attached. The rapid fully reversing bending from the axle's response to the vibration brought it to its cyclical fatigue failure point...and goodbye GoodYear.
If you want the complicated explanation, feel free to contact me when you have at least a Master's in Non-Linear Dynamics.
With that, can we all just accept that an amusement park is not about to pay for an analysis and redesign of an aesthetic element of a ride. Add to that the cost of an indepth State inspection of the new trains and the increased insurance premiums that would result until the park's insurance provider was satisfied with the performance of the redesign. Considering all that extra cost to bring back something that doesn't even serve a functional purpose (and thus provides no return on investment), you can see why the park simply chose to remove the themeing.

Thank you Purdue, That was well said.
I had heard and I understand this may be a rumour, but did the tires go into Iron Dragons lagoon? Or fall into the water?
Also, I am totally in favor of less theming for more seats.

My understanding was that it rolled down the dirt area right by the ride.

And where is your degree from? It is obvious you never learned about capitalization or punctuation. If you went to an accredited university you would have most likely taken at least one English class!
But then again, I didn't take a single math class in college, so maybe they let you slide by without taking English!

John McCain: The Ride
Being Mavericky since 2007!
If anyone wonders what happened to the stuff AFTER it came off, the Engines and tires were located under the Mid Course Brake Run on the Mean Streak.
I had to be walked off the MCB because late in the day the ride shut down while we were on it and I was escorted off MS from the Mid Course. While walking down we got to see and walk next too the wings, engines and wheels.
Frankly I dont think the 2 riders per train make much difference. It would still have the fastest lines in the park without the extra seats. The themeing made it so much more original. Oh well though, its not coming back.
