So no one was ever died at CP, seriously?

On a separate note, I'm impressed with the lifeguard staff at Soak City and Wildwater Kingdom. They are extremely attentive and even though I watch my son like a hawk, it's comforting to know that they are always keeping safety a number one priority.

The only story I've heard of someone dying at Cedar Point was the story of the couple that jumped off the balcony together at the Breakers. Legend has it that a force now pulls down young girls standing over that balcony, but it looks like it would only do major injuries rather than sudden death, and who knows how true the story really is.

Thus far though yes nobody has died at Cedar Point unlike most parks. For those who want to say "I don't feel safe at this park or that park" I gonna let you in on something. Some incidents were the parks' fault, but most of the time it is stupidity. Doing what you shouldn't be doing or being somewhere you shouldn't be at an amusement park can ultimately be the death of you. If you have heart, back, or other problems, don't ride. Don't stand up (well, save for Mantis), and signs saying no access are there for a reason. I do feel that there are still a bunch of stupid people in this world and we are about due for a Cedar Point death very soon (probably when I'm there..I hope not).

The balconies are all screened in. I'm not sure how long they've been that way.

That was my first thought though. I gotta look up these "ghost stories" again.

Having a heart attack on a ride and being brought to the hospital is very different from a death on a ride. Heart attacks and strokes happen.

Back when I worked at CP we had multiple accidents on Jumbo Jets -- people breaking hands cause they reached out to touch track and got it chopped by supports....and a few back injuries from the final break area. Employees were injured all the time because you had to basically control the train coming into the station with your foot. I refused to work on the ride after two friends were injured. Me Like Mine Ride. Sit and push the Go button.

Stuff happens, but never a fatality due to park or ride operation. Injuries yes, but never a fatality. Practically one of the best safety records in the industry and they're proud to keep it that way

I think I remember hearing about somebody falling from the high section of White Water Landing years ago because they were drunk and standing up while the ride was in motion.

The article also mentions a maintenance fall incident that happened overnight at Millennium Force.

I was in the terminal when it happened. There was a person who was in the process of boarding the train and passed out. I don't know if it was a heart attack, they were doing compressions and had the defibrillator (never used it), but there were two trains of people from riding it that had to be let off. It was shut down for most of the day, which is disappointing, but I can understand the reason behind it.

I might be mistaken, but didn't a little kid die in the Hotel Breakers parking lot last year after being run over by a jeep?

^ You are correct that a girl did jump from a high point on WWL about 23 years ago. The local news reported it was a suicide attempt. She survived.

I assumed those wire brush things at the end of the station were a response to that incident. I have no idea if they are something that's been there all along.

The brush was put in after the kid stuck his hand out and had it jam between the train and station. With the brushes, hopefully someone will pull their hand back before it gets caught between the steel plate and the train.
