It's just a different animal. I like Disney and Universal for different reasons than I like Cedar Point. The thing I like about Cedar Point more, though, is exactly what you said. It's an amusement park, and the rides by themselves are so much of an experience that you don't need theming to see it.

That said, as a 40-year old man, I have never been so excited about the opening of a land more than Star Wars, and I am not ashamed to admit that. :)

It's 2017 and Mickey Mouse is from what, originally the thirties? And he's not on TV anymore unless you're watching a Disney channel or a Disney commercial. Maybe Disney should dump him for something more modern...

If Charlie Brown was a legit human being and went to Cedar Point, he would actually qualify for a Senior Ticket / Senior Pass.

Oh, I can only imagine the rage if CP announced that Peanuts would no longer be the mascot.

I think if CP ever got rid of Snoopy and the rest of the gang, the best option would've been Nintendo. I say would've been because of this article ( https://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/vsMQJPFdvKCUCn-0T3D4eEAhoWb7jEEp ). But think about it, a lot of kids and adults play video games, whether it's the Nintendo brand or a different gaming company! Who doesn't know Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, etc? That would've been a good variety of characters to base things off of. But, I'm perfectly fine with Snoopy!

I was wondering why no amusement parks have swallowed up Nintendo. I'm glad Universal finally did.

[Raises hand] You lost me at Zelda. Who? Admittedly, I never got past Ms Pac Man, game-wise. I may have played some 80's version of Mario; I played something and lasted 15-20 minutes before getting bored.

I think Nintendo is in the right place with Uni. Cedar Fair could have done a good job, but Uni will make magic.

I would be interested in hearing about much the Snoopy theme actually attracts people to the park. Sure, it is great when they are at the park. But is there anyone that actually makes the decision to go to a Cedar Fair park over a Six Flags park solely because CF has PEANUTS?

I am a huge fan of the Peanuts gang and would be saddened to see them go. They will eventually, as with everything in the park, the time will come where they truly are no longer relevant. But this time is not now. I actually think the Peanuts are having a boost in popularity as I frequently see their licensed merchandise in stores such as Target and BAM.

If the gang should depart, I suspect that they would consider video games for a new theme. Carowinds added their Plants vs. Zombies attraction and CGA did a similar Mass Effect experience last year, both licensed by PopCap/ EA games. Kentucky Kingdom added their similar Angry Birds attraction as well. Given the popularity of these, I see it plausible, if not likely that a similar licensed attraction could come to CP. I would love to see one though the buildings are large and ugly.

Pretty sure you need an IP like "Harry Potter" or "Star Wars" to bring people in based on theme alone.

What CPmaverick said. No one is basing their choice of what park to visit based on whether they'll see Sinestro or Peppermint Patty. Someone who lives in Ludington who decides to visit Michigan's Adventure instead of SF Great America is likely making the decision based on proximity, not IP.

I don't think Snoopy is unpopular or irrelevant at all. My one gripe about the Peanuts at CP is that, as a kid, I could never find anything with my name on it. Ever. I thought for sure that CP would be the one place I could actually find something with my name on it, spelled the right way, since Marcie is a Peanuts character. Nope. Not one thing with my name on it. Anywhere in the park. There is actually very little with the Marcie character on it either, which I sort of understand since Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally, PigPen, & Linus are generally more popular characters, but still. Sad face. I have already bought all the things they have with the Marcie character. Every year I hope for a few more things to appear.

And before someone decides to get all high and mighty with their reply and criticize me, I realize this is not a park concern. I just wanted to express my opinion on it, since you know, that's what forum's are generally for.
