I read over the weekend that the Peanuts gang is leaving the Mall of America, and that Spongebob is replacing him.

Does Cedar Fair still have ties with this park? Does this indicate a similar fate for other locations?
It says right in that same article that Cedar Fair no longer has anything to do with Mall of America. And there's no flag for it on the cedarfair website. So no, what they do there has nothing to do with any Cedar Fair park.
....wikipedia was also first to report Magnum was sinking, and Sinbad was dead.
I'm too sexy for my harness!
[url][url]It states that "that talks between MoA and , and effective January 19, the park's Peanuts branding would end, the park being temporarily renamed "The Park at MOA" while new branding was being applied".
It does not say that there still isn't any agreements in place between them otherwise.
And with Cedar Fair still backing both characters, there has to be a substantial $'s involved in licensing both franchises. One has to believe there could be a real cost savings slimming this down to just one. My guess is that it is going to be much like the Coke/Pepsi battle in the parks - and someday one of them is moving out.
Actually, CF does not own the rights to SpongeBob. Their use was part of the purchase agreement for the Paramount Parks, but it is (from what I remember) only for a few years.
Just as I'm sure Coke will only be in the Paramount Parks until the current contract runs out and CF can negotiate a new one with Pepsi.
So to sum up.
CF is no longer involved with MoA.
CF does not have the rights to SpongeBob/Nickelodeon
Coke will probably be gone from CF parks in a few years.

Or Pepsi may be gone in a few years. They have a great bargaining chip with some of their parks having Coke and some having Pepsi. They can work the companies against each other for pricing and award it to whoever comes back with the best deal.
That's fine by me. Since they're Pepsi, they make NO money off of me or my friends on soda purchases. We just stick to the free water. :) If it was Coke, that'd be another story.
But, Tim, you can get a Coke anywhere! Why wouldn't you buy something that is only offered locally?
;)
Brandon
^ - well, to properly do that, they'd have to switch to Faygo products (something I wouldn't be opposed to).

Snoopy would totally kick Spongebob's ass!!!
Oh, sorry. That's the first thought that went through my head when I read this thread.

Faygo is fine by me. Of course, IBC would be better when it comes to root beer and cream soda, but Faygo isn't bad either. Who knows, maybe prices on the beverages would actually fall a quarter or two. *** Edited 3/19/2007 7:32:01 PM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I'd put $5 on Snoopy kicking the snot out of Spongebob.
So yeah, put me down for Snoopy winning that cage match.

Just a question does CP sell energy drinks? Like Monster or Redbull? I can picture myself now walking around the park with a Monster in my hand! ;)
Let's Get Weird.
I have seen energy drinks for sale at the park. I want to say the little stand under Dragster's bleachers had them for sale.
As for the Pepsi vs. Coke wars, Coke will continue to not make a dime from me until they come up with a suitable alternative to Mountain Dew. Vault and Mellow Yellow are both just gross.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
Spongebob is a weakling! Snoopy would wipe the floor with Spongebob! Plus, he's a sponge.....no bigger than 3 iches. All Snoopy would have to do is step on him and it's all over.
As for Coke vs Pepsi, I prefer Pepsi. But I dont mind coke from a fountian as I can't stand coke from a bottle or can for some reason.

Snoopy would just get on his Sopwith Camel and plug him full of holes . . . except that since he's a sponge, Spongebob already is full of holes.

I'm trying hard to cut away from soda, but I'm having difficulty.
Snoopy is my favorite, but if you think logically, Spongebob and the rest of the Nickelodeon characters win over kids a lot more than a comic strip/TV show that is becoming much harder to find now a days.
