Sneak Peekers

What is your job like, do you get payed by how many people buy pictures.

It looks like it would be fun to walk around and take pictures of people at the point.

I think they have to take a certain number of rolls of film per day. I am not sure if that is related to their pay or not.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Well the whole process is digital now so maybe they do have to take a certain amount. I saw some "sneak peekers " in the queue entertaining people.

I don't think I have ever seen a a sneak peeker not smiling they must have really high morale.

Boy, I am showing my age. I guess it has been a while since I last had a picture taken at the parks. I guess I should have assumed it was digital.

The bottom line is numbers. The more people you can stop to get a picture, the more potential for people to buy the picture.

The future looks interesting. Disney is setting up a system where you preregister and get this "chip". As you walk through the park the chip activates cameras hidden in light poles and other areas. Basically, pictures will be taken of your family all day long. When you get home, an email will be sent with those "proofs" and you will be able to by a vacation photo album. Really, an ingenious idea.

Wow, I have never heard of that idea but that is pretty neat and high tech. :)

I think that is sheer genius, it would be neat if they told you where some of the spots are, but still left alot of them hidden so that you get some good candid shots. The problem I see with that is there would be alot of people with those chips and having the camera trying to take all those pictures could be a little crazy for the camera and it's system to handle.

I'm saying: I don't really think so, look at Top Thrill Dragster...those photos are taken EXTREMELY quickly!!!

I vaguely remember reading that you will also be able to order a video with footage (stills or video, I can't remember) of your family spliced into the scenes. A no-effort home movie of your Mouse experience!

It's not war, famine, or pestilence; it's only downtime.

These people just seem to have the most freedom in the park

so my friend sends me a link to this and i just had to reply. i work at sneak peeks. and let me tell you... if anyone is ever considering ever working at sneak peeks... just say no. we have the worst job in the park. first off, no one wants their picture taken. NO ONE... you get rejected, laughed at, cussed at, touched, ignored, and once i even got spit on. you also have to stay out in the (insert bad weather here ie. sun rain wind snow cold hot bugs) from 830 or 9 until 2 every day. you open ever single day, and soem days you have to close. you also have to deal with 20 other cranky people that have the same crappy job. all in all just never even consider sneak peeks. and by the way, just stop for a freakin picture!
Do you get paid more if a certain amount of people buy the picture?

How are you all so cheery then rachel?

we get paid the regular amount just like everyone else, but we also get commision. which is based on if we make 15 cents per cap. then we get 50% of the profits devided among all the workers, the blue tags get a bijillion percent, and then its devided among us slaves based on how many pictures we took, so in the end the people that didnt take any pictures (ie blue tags) get 500 or 700 dollars and we get 50 or 60 dollars...

and were cheerful cuz we have to be. if we walk around with a gloomy face we would get no pictures and then we would get in trouble, so we jusrt avoid having to get yelled at by being chipper. cuz we do have fun sometimes. the people on my crew are awesome, and you have to be a little crazy to work there, but once you work there for so long you cant stand it.

Were you drawn to this job because you thought it would be easy or do you just like taking pictures.

my older brother is friends with my boss, that was one of the things that made me pick sneak peeks. i also thought it would be alot of fun, and at first it really was. but after about 2 weeks, it just gets terribly monotonous. i do like photography, but this is not a photography job, this is a solicitor job.
What? A monotonous job at Cedar Point? Those don't exist! Seriously though, everything you put up with Ride Hosts put up with the same. (ACErs after finding out Dragster would be closed) Everyone finds there job to be repetitive. Feel happy you get the commision you do.

I never really thought about sneak peekers getting paid on commission!! I'm at the park often enough that I pass on the pictures.

Do you get commission ONLY on the pictures sold?

first off, NO mr ride host, it isnt the same. you dont have to go up to peple and solicit to them, they come to you, and they have a little bit of respect for you since, oh i dont know, their life is in their hands... me on the other hand, they think all im trying to do is scam them out of money. really my job is the same as those telemarketers that call during dinner, only im louder and in person, so i get 10 times more jerkiness.

and yes stop for a picture every single time you see a sneak peeker, it doesnt matter if you buy it, or even look at it, hell you can throw the card away as soon as we give it to you, just stop! thats all we ask! we get commision based on the number of pictures we take, so it doesnt matter if you buy it or not. JUST STOP.... *cries* please?

you welcome fury, i hope you never ever ever want to be a sneak peek :)

No need to cry Princess...I'll be happy to stop for any and ALL Sneak Peekers I see from now on. I never knew you were "paid" based on the number of photos taken.

BTW, is there anyway to get the photos electronically? This may be a good suggestion for you to submit:)

OTT

P.S. I agree with you completely regarding your post to "mr. Ride Host" having been there and done that for many years, I would NEVER pick your job over Ride Op. ENJOY your summer, Heck I'll bet you'll even miss it come December and want to return in 04.

thank you, :)

and alot of people suggest that, but beaing as we JUST went digital last year, and cedar point wont do anything different unless they absolutely HAVE to, i really dont see it happening. all they want to do is make money, and i think they are happy right now.

yea, i already thought about coming back, as a ride host! :) never ever will i come back to sneak peeks :P but i guess you could have guessed that already huh?
