Oh no, not again, they are back!:
From the New York Times, Wednesday, July 22, 1931:
REPORT OF THE CAPTURE OF BIG 'SEA SERPENT'
Two Fisherman Crate Up "Monster" in Sandusky, Which they Say is Twenty Feet Long.
SANDUSKY, Ohio, July 21 (AP) - Inside a tightly boarded box beside the lakeshore tonight was locked what several persons said was a large marine animal having specifications that might qualify it as a serpent, claimed to have been captured by two Cincinnati fisherman in Sandusky Bay.
The fisherman, Clifford Wilson and Francis Cogenstose of Cincinnati, said that the "serpent", measuring about twenty feet long and about twelve inches through at the thickest place, arose late today out of the Lake Erie waters beside their boat.
Although frightened by the beast, they said, they hit it over the head twice with an oar and knocked it senseless, then fastened a line to its head and towed it to shore.....

King snakes is what I meant. lol. How did you buy a venomous snake?
It's very slightly venomous. So much so that her species isn't marked as venomous.
And no mike, I won't be getting a snake for a tattoo. What I have in mind is a symbol from a popular anime series.:)

Make sure its something that you're not going to grow out of in a couple of years. I realize you like that stuff now, but just be damn sure.
This is pretty crazy stuff about these snakes. I saw the the Dirty Jobs special, but was half paying attention. I am glad though this things are limited to that area (since I will be at Presque Isle in a month.).
Do these come all the way to the Lighthouse Point rock bed and the rock wall out in the lake by Sandcastle? I have stayed at Lighthouse once and did not see any on my porch in the morning. Was I just lucky? That would have scared the crap out of me first thing in the morning.
Don't doubt it. There's always a good chance to see one if you're really looking for it. Like I said before, there's nothing to worry about. They're more afraid of you than you are of them.
^^It wouldn't matter anyway. The symbol itself is cool. It has other references outside the anime so even if I grew out of the show, I'd still like the tattoo.

The worst thing about my current fear of snakes is that I was not always like this. When I was kid, I caught hog noose, rat, black, etc... I can never say I have really got bitten other than one Garter Snake. This was no big deal.
I got my fear went I went to Central America a few times. The Lanceheads (mainly Fer-De-lance) and Bushmaster had me really cautious. I seem to have reserved that opinion afterwords. The aggressive behavior of some water snakes seem to be inline with these snakes disposition.
I also had some great neighbors in college from Africa. They would mention the disposition of the Black Mamba and Puff Adder every once and awhile when we talked about the subject. These seem like they are mean bastards and I took there word for it, since they were from the region.
On a positive note. My mother caught a baby rat snake if a jar that was in the yard a couple of weeks ago. She had me come over to see if it was venomous (Yes, I still question her on why she tried to approach it if there was question, answer is inconclusive). I however built it a leaf pile and let it go in there. I hope it has a happy life eating the mice in the woods.
This has nothing to do with CP, but this is Neo. I named him Neapolitan because he looks somewhat like ice cream. He is about 4 times larger now. I did not have a recent photo. I want to get a B/W Cali king and name it Beetlejuice.

My tattoos have way more meaning and things in them than just that. Hate to disappoint.
^^^^Ha! That would be sad....but no that's not it.
It's this just to clarify. It'd go right above my shoulder blade.

Yeah, yeah - I'm just having a night. We're closing on the house next week so it's stress city right now.
Sorry to hear that Josh. Hang in there until the paperwork clears!
You know, I actually do like your Disney tattoos. I'm not a tattoo-getting sort of person myself, but if I were, I would probably think about something like that. Or maybe a cool One Ring tat from Lord of the Rings.

i beg to differ on that...my brother-in-law has a cabin in Northern Wisconsin abd there are Copperheads AND Water Moccasins in that lake...

There are actually two subspecies of water snakes native to the area. The common water snake is the much more frequently spotted of the two. The Lake Erie watersnake is a subspecies of the common snake. Both are similar but the Lake Erie Snake is slightly genetically different. The Lake Erie subspecies is primarily found on Put In Bay (South Bass Island for you tourists) Kelley's Island and the Marblehead and Catawba Peninsulas. What you saw was called a "mating ball" and it is just what it sounds like. (You can figure out the rest...) You see a lot of them on breakwalls in early summer. Regardless of which species they are they are mean and pretty aggressive. I used to cut grass on a tractor on Catawba and I'd occasionally clip a snake or two by the breakwall. The good news is that they are non-poisonous.
Water Moccasins or Cottonmouths are not native to the area and cannot survive our winters. They usually aren't found north of the black swamp in northern Virginia.

Just letting you know, it's impossible for either a Water Moccasin OR Copperhead to live THAT far north. The Water Moccasin, or Cottonmouth as they are actually called, is a southern species. And the Copperhead's range goes as far north/west as lower Massachusetts.
You must be mistaking these snakes for others in the state. It's easy to mistake the Cottonmouth for a Northern Water snake. And the Copperhead can be mistaken for a......well there's no snake that fits the look of a Copperhead in my opinion. The only venomous snakes in Wisconsin are the Timber Rattlesnake (which "could" look like a Copperhead I guess) and the Easter Massasaugua Rattlesnake.
Plus, what do the snakes in Wisconsin have to do with the watersnakes in Ohio?:)

Saw a 4-5 footer 3 years ago slithering across the walkway to/from Mantis and saw a small one,1-2 footer, at western trail petting farm.It was cutting thru the rooster pen and being watched by them.I don't fear snakes so it was no big thing.

Jesz,If you dislike spiders, be aware around Cedar Point. They are everywhere. Our hotel room at Breakers had them everywhere outside. You can see some impressive webs around there. We have been to Breakers numerous times, and its common to see some decent sized spiders crawling around.
That's nothing. I was in the Rotunda last Halloweekends and saw a spider that was about 8 feet in diameter!
