Smoking ban being enforced?

I am planning on mentioning to the smokers that I see that there are smoking areas in a nice and courteous manner. Smoke gives me headaches. Anyone Else with me?

Smoke dries my eyes out and gives me migraines.

I do have to say I cheered when I heard about the "designated smoking area" information. I am a non smoker but do a cigar every blue moon. Smokers do make me mad sometimes, but its not going to kill me. It is still a nicer thing if it will be enforced.

i think if i went out and mentioned to someone that they were smoking and should take a hike to the designated area they might tell me to **** off. I'll just keep quiet.

I saw several people smoking throughout the park both saturday and sunday. I saw several people smoking while walking and walked right by 2 CP security officers and the officers did nothing. I saw several people smoking in the lines for rides also. Even right next to posted no smoking signs.

Umm, actually secondhand smoke will kill you...

I think we've already beat that topic to death.

Better stop while you're ahead Andrew...

We also have to remember that this was Opening weekend. There have been several instances where CP will take the following week to add finishing touches that they might not have gotten to. So perhaps there might be some signage for the smoking areas added. Just a thought.

Glad to see that it's helping though. I think it was a fair way for CP to strike a balance with smokers and non-smokers, without singling one group or the other out. Everyone gets what they want. To an extent.

I saw a group of 4 people in line for Raptor yesterday passing a cigar back and forth to eachother. Security looked right at them and said nothing. Saturday a couple smoked a cigarette while in line for MF. I commented that he wasn't supposed to smoke in line, he just looked at me and kept doing what he was doing.

I saw two EMPLOYEES smoking while leaning on the fence between Millennium Force and Panda Express. That was a first for me at CP.

Of course, in my opinion, they ought to have one or two more smoking areas for the employees (Stockade and maybe the Red Garter Break area would be good) because right now, supposedly, the only two are by the water tower and the Raptor break area. Either of those is a hike and a half for someone working at Mean Streak or Maverick.

Employees should only be allowed to smoke in break areas not visible by guests. No one wants to see an employee just standing around smoking.

We followed an employee Saturday night at closing walking up the Dragster midway smoking with his CP employee shirt on. He paused around every corner to make sure there wasn't anyone important there to see him.

Ride on, MrScott!

But there was someone important...it was you, a guest. 'Nuff said.

Those of you who mentioned that you get migranes and a breathing problem from smoking. I lived with a smoker for years- my mother. I am now 27 years old have never smoked a day in my life and have a smoker's lung. You wouldn't believe how easily my allergies get irritated or how easily I get bronchitis. Is it fair? Of course not especially since I did not make the choice.

I saw a few people smoking while walking down the midway, and a good number of people smoking in the designated smoking area.

Those people who were smoking walked right past a designated smoking area, what a slap in the face to people who were following the rules.

CPPD needs to enforce this. If it is common for the officers to ignore smokers, than the smoking rules will fail. The chief needs to kick some tail if these rules are not being enforced.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Exactly Pete. I wanted to kick the crap out of the people smoking while walking around the park. I was edgy enough as it is having to wait to smoke after a ride to take the edge off, watching those fools made it worse.

I never thought I'd say this, but it looks like Six Flags is doing a better job enforcing rules than CP is. That's a shame. During my day at Magic Mountain, I only saw ONE person smoking outside of the designated areas. Smokers grab my attention immediately too - I can smell it from a LONG ways off. So, I'm pretty certain I didn't miss any. From the opening day reports, it looks like they were all over CP though. I know it's the beginning of the season, but they should be extra harsh early on to set a precedence.

smokers will try and do what they want to do. Some people will listen; some wont. I don't think there is enough man power to combat every smoker with an attitude.

I thought the break areas were bad enough filled with smokers. Sure one side was non smoking but you can't divide the air. COUGH! ..... I guess I am contradicting myself when earlier I said smoke doesnt bother me. Sometimes it does; sometimes it doesnt.
