To those who were at the Point on Sat & Sun? Did you see many people smoking outside of the designated areas? Walt posted a pic of a CP Police officer confronting a smoker. Was there a lot of this going on?
I don't know about anyone else but I seemed to be behind or around people smoking down the midway, and in Frontier Town. I don't think smokers care about the new policy or how non-smokers feel.
I did see several cases throughout the day of people who weren't complying, and in many instances I heard at least one guest comment about how someone was smoking outside the designated area. Was it better? Definitely. Was it 100%? No.

I saw many people smoking on the midway and outside of the smoknig areas.... smokers typically don't care what non-smokers think.. they think it is their right to smoke wherever they want.
Yah, I saw people smoking in ban enforced areas. I agree with kidsRRT a lot of smokers dont care and my Dad told me that.

I smoke... A lot.
I smoked in the designated areas every time I had a smoke. But I gotta tell you there were hardly any visible well marked signs that said smoking was not allowed except in certain parts of the park outside of the designated area. If I had not known before going in yesterday I would not have figured it out unless someone told me.
I saw maybe one or two people smoking outside the designated areas.
I saw 4 or 5 people smoking on the midways, which is far far less than usual, especially considering how large the crowds were. I do agree that there need to be some signs around the park posting the policy. The only signs I saw were at the entrance gates.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Basically exactly what I was going to say. I did notice a decrease, but there were still obviously some going on.
I have to add though, I never did see the designated smoking areas (and I was casually looking, having read about it here). Unless you were specifically searching for them, it would be easy to not even know they were there.

Yes, most of them are relatively off the beaten path, so to speak, which does make sense, I guess. The only ones that are blatantly obvious is the one on the Frontier Trail, and maybe the one in Frontiertown.

That's the case in every other park I've been to as well. I think that's the point. Keep the smoke off the main midway and it won't bother people.
Agreed completely that keeping it off the main midway is the right idea, there just weren't any signs or anything saying "smoking section this way" or anything (or at least, not that I saw).
I'm not complaining, since it did help some, I'm just saying that maybe it should've been made a little clearer.

That's what park maps are for. They don't have signs all over the park that say where all the different rides are either.
There were some people smoking on the midways but I didn't see a single person smoking in a line. I think it's going to take some time for everyone to learn the rules. By now, most people know that you can't smoke in line at CP. In time they will learn about the smoking areas. I'm still waiting for the story on the evening news about how Cedar Point is losing customers because of the smoking ban just like all the local bar stories that are always on.
It's not a smoking ban. How is it like the bars? Noone i have heard has predicted a customer loss for CP because of this choice they made.
smoke 'em if you got 'em
I did see one case of smoking in line, and it was in the maXair line. I actually saw one good reason that is more than enough to show why they don't allow smoking in line as a result. The person that was smoking was paying no attention to anyone besides the guys she was with and ended up sticking her smoking butt in another girls' long hair on the other side of a silver rail. Surprisingly she didn't notice, and that person continued to have several close calls with her cigarette butt hitting people. Saw about three people in two minutes almost get it on the hand.
As for smoking on the midways, I was surprised how little I saw.

Yep, because the fact that they smoke makes them jerks. It couldn't be that the people you saw are just jerks to begin with.

Kind of like the person that I saw smoking in the maXair line. That whole group of people was just flat out disrespectful to everyone around them.
