GATES OPEN TO RESORT GUESTS AND JOE COOL CLUB MEMBERS AT 9:00AM

GATES OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT 9:30AM

That says nothing about the actual rides starting at 9:00a.m. It only says that you can get into the park to get in line 1/2 hour before the general public. Basically you can be first in line to ride when the rides start. The actual hours for ride operation are currently 10:00am to 10:00pm Sunday-Friday and 10:00am to 11:00pm on Saturday. Now certain rides (MF, TTD, and maXair currently) have ride crews that come in early to begin testing before the rest of the rides so that they can be open before the other rides for those guests that enter the park early, however there is nothing publically written that says that MF, TTD, and maXair actually begin operation at 9:00am. *** Edited 6/15/2005 3:18:41 PM UTC by Jeff***

Uh, what's Joe Cool?

I agree that it's crap. I know that the Intamin rides take a lot of time and effort to get going, but the guest doesn't care about that. If the crew can't get it done in the time they are alloted, then they need to ask management for more paid time in the morning. If they are not given it, then it's on management. Guests really don't care about excuses and they shouldn't be made to feel stupid because they don't know that it takes 137 steps and 53.42 minutes to get Millennium Force open in the morning.

They opened on time a few years ago. In 2000, wasn't MF open at 9 EVERYDAY for EVERYONE.

I really suggest that people noticing the decline in operations throughout the park go to park operations and fill out a comment form with some specific details. Nothing will be done about the situation unless management knows there's a problem. The more complaints they receive, the more likely it is that something will change. Posting on here is far less effective than making a real complaint in the office.

Also from CedarPoint.com:

"The Joe Cool Club is a great opportunity to experience coasters with minimal waiting time, as well as get you special discounts and benefits at the park. Members:

*Participate in special ride time on Cedar Point’s thrilling coasters
*Enter the park one-half hour before the general public for coaster ride time"

It's pure crap it's not up and 100% operational at 9 o clock when the guests come through the gates.

Some crew members get there at 7:30, while the rest get there at 8:00. If everything goes according to plan, then the ride is always up by 8:45 or so. If there is a problem, and with a ride as complex as MF you never know, then it will open a bit later.

Joe Cool Club was the best thing ever in 2001. You got in the park an hour early and had MF, PT, Mantis, Magnum, and Raptor open. Granted this was on 7 selected Sundays throughout the season. Because of the massive amount of rides I got that seaon I decided to get it again the next year.

Needless to say there is nothing like the original Joe Cool Club as it should be renamed the "Joe Fool Club." It's a big load of crap to charge people the $15 for this perk to have you wait an extra half hour while the park gets the ride open.

I have yet to get a ride on MF this year because of the seatbelt rule. I can fit, but I'm not waiting. Which isn't CP's fault at all, Intamin designed the ride and then set standards after the fact.

When I bought my pass this year I decided to pass on the Joe Cool deal because I didn't think the "benefits" outweighed the cost. Looks like I made the right choice. I'd be pretty mad if all my $15 got me was early time to wait in line and not ride!

Cedar Point rocks my socks.
