Skyhawk running 1 arm

Why is skyhawk only running one arm when its the busiest time of the year? The line was insane

Because they wanted to ruin your day. They've already got your 49.95 (parking and admission). There is no need to actually give you a satisfying experience.

There's 2 likely reasons it was down.

A) (most likeliest) Something wasn't working. They were able to run one arm, so rather than closing the ride, they opened and ran what they could and will hopefully have it up again by next weekend.

B) (Less likely) Staffing. If you don't have the people to run the ride, then you can't run it, no matter how much you want to. I doubt this reason because SH is the new ride and they'd have as many workers as they need to make sure it runs at capacity.

They better (A) have that thing fixed, or (B) hire some more people pretty darn soon. (Pretty soon < or = 18 days)

The BEEF FREAK!

I'd put my money at staffing this time of year. It is hard to get the college students to come back for the weekends and even a lot of the local HS kids have smartened up over the years and make sure their contracts end by Labor Day. Even the BUNAC kids head back home by early Fall.

It isn't uncommon for all hands to be on deck during this time of year. I recall my wife being pulled from her position outside the park to come in and help sweep, clean tables, etc because of the obvious need. But, it is a whole other thing to train them to run a ride just for a day.

The one arm is down for maintance reasons...the cable to the arm has been detached.

What is the capacity on Skyhawk anyhow? Even on a good day, the ride doesn't pull a line through very quickly.

maXair and Skyhawk both have disappointing load/unload intervals, compared to what CP said on their announcements.

Ok, that is why I'm not a gambling man. But, is there a sense of urgency to fix it before the season is out?

Yes.

I'm visiting on closing weekend and I demand perfection. ;)

Actually, I just don't want there to be a massive line of people blocking my path from the Tales of Terror around to Magnum.

I've never seen these tales of terror you talk about. I would like to.

Especially the Tell-Tale Heart. And I've found that the presentation is much better after dark. They do a good job at sealing the amphitheater from light, but on a bright day, it just doesn't cut it. At night though, its eerily dark in there. And has a dusty wood/fog smell to it.

I would like to see it on closing weekend at night. :)

As would I.

I would pay money to see the Tell Tale Heart again, the guy who does it is UNBELIEVABLE. I haven't see the Raven, but I heard it's good too.

Tell-tale Heart is a must-see for anyone going.

How bout we stop knockin the ride or the crew. The ride was down for mechanical reasons. If you were as intelligent as you claim to be about rides, you may have noticed that the cable isn't even attached to the swing. I'm sorry but do you really think CP is going to invest time and money on something that can run fine with one? Yeah if the line is long come back later, Or come back another weekend, because god knows the people always complaining are the people that come every weekend. As for it's a piece of crap S&S, sure. why not. It's still fun. Oh well. I still like it. Maybe cause I know whats wrong with it and never have to complain ;)

Outside of Lakeland's insightful post, who's knocking the ride or the crew?

Piece of crap S&S ride, Load/unload times compared to what CP says.. kinda directly translates to employee capabilites. And in other posts they bash crews.

Sounds like somebody needs to take their "not taking stuff so personally" pills.

I don't think anybody's directly slamming you, or even the crew. Load times on the ride are ridiculously horrible, plain and simple. No one ever said it was your fault. You're reading too much into it.
