I was looking at the webcams today.. Do they not run sky ride during Halloweekends? It seems like they would run it on Saturdays due to the large crowds.

56.6 °F / 13.7 °C
Overcast
Humidity: 52%
Dew Point: 39 °F / 4 °C
Wind: 20.0 mph / 32.2 km/h / 8.9 m/s from the West
Wind Gust: 22.0 mph / 35.4 km/h
The operating manual states that Skyride must cease operations when winds are in excess of 20mph. I'm sure the actual on-point winds up 90 feet (On top of the middle tower where they have the anemometer) are higher than 20 anyway.
So in essence, it's down due to weather.

It's open every Saturday, Friday, and Sunday, except those that weather precludes it from running.
As bholcomb said, most likely wind.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Well if it takes 10 mph to close down Sky Ride, How fast does Wind speed have to be to not let Raptor run for the day? I know they ran it last year in the wind and it didn't make it in test run.
I see... Well, I hope it's not too cold today! Looks like they've got a good crowd though, so it can't be that bad.

Raptor is 25mph winds. But it has to be from a certain direction.
Last year closing weekend sucked for Raptor.
SkyRide was down all day becase of wind. Space Spiral was closed too for some reason... and... MaXair, well its still down.
Maxair, well who knows when it will be going,i heard that the company who makes maxair went bankrupt.
Sky Ride...that's a ride where I was surprised to look over from the platform and actually see it running this summer.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Well that's really not good. There might be a possibility that this is the last year of MaXair.
Didn't Huss declare bankruptcy within the past year or 2? I seem to remember reading something like that. But I could be wrong...
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
I'd imagine they would have to make extra parts for at least a few years.. I'm not sure how it works with rollercoasters, but GM had to with Olds parts.
That's different though. While Olds is no more, its parent, GM still is. And most, if not all Olds models had the mostly the same parts as their GM counterpart (ex: Oldsmobile Bravada and GMC Jimmy) so those parts are still being made.

Any model made has to keep extra parts for, I think 5 Years..
A rollercaoster company should not be able to build something and then leave you with it and no replacement parts.
Cedar Point will get it fixed or get money..
I believe Huss is still in operation, only under a different financial and corporate identity. If I remember the situation correctly, they already had an "emergency plan" that would basically just mean that Huss as we originally knew it was no longer the "same company." I may be wrong, but I believe their still up and running, just not under their old corporate identity.
