Well that can only mean more coasters over there.
Too bad it will now be 2 badly run parks.

How depressing. I feel bad for Shamu. My wife and I were planning a trip to Sea World this summer. Considering the experience we had at SFO last summer, those plans are in jeopardy.

Whats life if you never get to the point?
Great! :( Now that dump across the lake will become that dump around the lake! :( It is a sad day when Six Flags buys a beutiful park which we all know will become trashy in the next few seasons. I was out at Sea World this last summer for the first time in almost 15 years and became in love with it's charm and gorgeous atmosphere, now I'm disliking Sea World already. I hope all of the bad news in the industry (i.e. this, CP losing it's coaster record, ect.) will come to an end very soon.
I cannot believe that as soon as word like this comes out that all of you start bashing Six Flags. I am a huge fan of Cedar Point but I am excited about this decision. Just think of all the possibilities there will be with a park that big literally in our own back yards. I hope that Six Flags continues to dump money into improvements for the park like it has done these past two years. It will benefit us with more rides to ride here in Ohio. It will also put even more pressure on Cedar Point and King's Island to continue to pump out new rides which will also benefit all of us. Ahhh, the Power of Capitalism!!! (From the popular cheese commercials.)
I wonder what Shamu's new name will be? I'm guessing that it can not remain Shamu, unless rights to that name were worked into the deal. Also, I sure hope that Six Flags takes as good care of this park and its animals as Busch did. From things that I've heard about Six Flags, all of those animals in its care kind of worries me.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
What about Cedar Point. First SFMM gets the coaster record. Now Six Flags buys Sea World and has a huge park area to expand. I sure hope CP gets some new coasters and attractions. Six Flags is such a huge corperation for Cedar Fair to battle with. But I also feel sorry for those poor animals to. This has not been a good winter for CP.

The last thing Sea World needs is to become an amusement park.

If Sea World becomes an amusement park, I will scream.

Sea World will not become an amusement park just because of future rides added to it. Just the simple act of joining the two parks together will make it an amusement park since it's separate distinction from the existing amusement park will cease to exist. I was not only referring to new rides in Six Flags in my earlier post, I was also referring to the increased pressure on CP and PKI to build more new rides in the future which will benefit us all.
While they are at it they should just fill in the lake and make a huge mega park.

From reading the press release, I would say that we can expect more big news concerning the new combined theme park in the near future(sometime this winter). From the press release, "Capital plans for the new Six Flags destination in Ohio, including both park properties, are under discussion and will be announced at a later date."
$110 million, I understand, was the purchase price and all Sea World animals will be transferred to Sea World parks.
Last year, the amusement park industry gained a 3% increase in attendance. Who was the largest park? SFO with an increase of 42%.
Not all park-goers are as critical as those that post on this site. I said it two years ago and I will say it again...SFO will be serious competition for Cedar Point.
I am not saying that is bad. Disney has improved dramatically with the presence of Universal Studios. MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, new rides like Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, etc. Competition is a good thing. Cedar Point guests, in the long run, will benefit from today's news.
According to Channel 5. The killer whales, dolphins, and penguins will be leaving. The other marine mammals will be staying.
Auuhh man....
Shamu: The Ride is not a possibility any more. I always wondered what it would be like to ride a killer whale ;)
The Killer whales, Dolphins, and penguins will be leaving? Yeah, I am going to Sea world to see Fish NOW. I never heard of an unsafe "Zoo" put PKS will somehow turn it into that. If they decide to buy another killer whale, it will be named "Superman, The Whale"
And where the (explicit remark) did they get 110 Million to do this? Did it just fall out of the sky?
