should smoking be allowed at the point?

I don't get how a non-smoker could go to a smoke filled bar either. I know if I ever did  that I would have to be rushed to the emergency room. Maybe having a few drinks is more important than their health. I don't know because I don't drink or smoke because I have chosen a healthy lifestyle and that's just me.

Tohot2see: If you read my first comment (the whole thing), I did say CP should go "smoke-free" but I went on to talk about having designated smoking areas. To me, that is smoke free because I wouldn't have to breath in smoke if I don't go near the smoking areas. So I didn't say one thing and then the exact opposite.

-----------------

I'm not trying to defend smoking . I quit this past summer and I've never felt better. It would be better for ME if there was no smoking in the park at all! Not because a little smoke blowing around outside makes me cry. But because it smells great to me, and I start craving one! But its not all about ME .

It's about letting people enjoy themselves as long as they are not putting other peoples health at risk. There is no medical reason for an outside smoking ban.

There is no medical study or report that even remotely suggests that brief tobacco exposure, like what you may experience in a outside area will cause health problems.

There is no science to back up a claim that smoking outside is more harmful to the people around you than coal smoke. Smoke may truly bother some people, but no one will fall ill from brief exposure. It's about the same risk as brief exposure to coal smoke, none.

The no smoking in line rule was put in place to please a small, but vocal group of anal non-smokers that think the world should be shaped around their likes and dislikes and screw everyone else. It wasn't based on any real dangers, or real science. It's a "feel good" law for non-smokers, nothing more.

But thats cool with me. I don't smoke anymore. And if I'm lucky, maybe this summer I can catch some little girls smoking in line so I can play "tough guy" with them.

I'll keep it simple Smoking should not be allowed at Cedar point with the exception of a few designated areas away from the crowds.

"Mongo Only Pawn In Game Of Life"

First of all let me say this. Most of my fellow guide to the pointers know my kids and I. My 2 kids and I are chronic asthmatics. Do any of you know what its like to have an asthma attack. Its the most horrible feeling in the world. You turn blue and gasp for air. That happens to myself and my kids quite frequently. My kids and I are all bothered by cigarette smoke. Even if its one cigarette thats lit for 3 minutes. My eyes and sinuses are very sensitive. I get tiny blisters on my eyes from cigarette smoke thats how bad I am allergic to smoke. Besides its my right that i go on the rides and not have to inhale second hand smoke. Their is supposed to be NO SMOKING IN LINES. How hard is that for anyone to understand. It;s all about consideration. Thats one of the ills of our society today. People are just concerned with me, myself, and I. Non smokers do have rights. If someone wants to smoke their should be an enclosed area for people to gasp. One more thing....I wish for one minute that the smokers would come with me when i go to my pulmonologists office every month. The waiting room is jammed packed. With who you ask?? Ex smokers with emphysema and other lung diseases carrying with them portable oxygen tanks. The moral of the story is don;t smoke. And if you must please be considerate to those of us who don;t. It;s no fun not being able to catch your breath, and have the feeling of suffocation.....

Obviously, smokers do not care about their own bodies...so why should they care about anyone else's?  Guests need to learn to be more proactive and police themselves better.  If someone is smoking in line, politely tell them that they are not allowed.  If you have to leave line to get an employee then do it...I am sure they will let you have your place in line back.

I hate to even "feed the trolls" here as Jeff so nicely puts it but....
I am an ex-smoker
as 2Hostyl said "I encourage all to quit"
Well said!! and long time no hear! :)
(Raptor still rules my sky btw ;))

I think too many here are taking the actions of a smoker too personal! A non smoker can say "they should just quit" easily, without knowning how very difficult that is for some it truly is a HABIT and something they HAVE to do! I have heard former drug addicts say it was harder for them to quit smoking than getting clean off drugs! A smoker who smokes on line is a selfish jerk plain and simple. I worry about a goverment who supports deadly habits such as smoking and drinking :(

A comedian once said in reference to smokers: "We should be nicer to people who are dieing"

think about it
