we learned a few things this trip and did some things we'd never done before.
first we were having a U2-fan gathering and THAT was a new thing. suffice it to say that our group was VERY ELEVATED!! we had me, my BF, RaptorRalpher and some CP virgins in the group. what fun.
one of those virgins is almost 7 feet tall and another one was 7 years old. i took to calling the 7-year-old "Magnum Dan Jr" cos he LOVED Maggie just that much. until he rode MF that is. we were afraid we'd have to pry his cold, dead hands off the lap bar to get him off that ride.
ANYhoo, my BF and i arrived on Friday night to hit the park early on Saturday and do our "couple's stuff"...but not til after we did 2 Twisters and 2 MF's.
Twister ROCKED!! wow!! i am SOOO impressed by the intensity of it. it was down for a few but we waited and got an almost-walk-on ride. twice. hehehehe.
On to MF. GOD i missed her! Yellow train on transfer track but Red train will do. i personally feel that MF is in FINE form...couldn't tell ANY difference in speed OR smoothness. just felt GREAT. 2 laps then breakfast.
went to Boathouse. another new thing for us this year. don't know WHY we hadnt made it there before this year. good food, cheap. Server forgot to return our resorts discount card. D'oh!!
hit DT, BS, Maggie, Cedar Downs, Gemini...all great rides. BS especially blew me away. love it love it love it. why cant they do that to Mean Squeak?? liked the 3-D stuff on DT. really adds to it. the op on spiel at DT was calling it "Dispatch Master Transport". hehehehe...either he was on here or that joke has been around a long time.
got tired so took a nap around 4pm in prep for our party at Friday's. i will spare you those details as it involved much U2-eyness...
Sunday. MF down. BF still sleeping. RaptorRalpher, myself and MoFoManaical head to WT for my third and their first Twists. Run into RALPH WIGGUM!! how i know these people are on GTTP i don't know...we rode WT together then parted ways.
we put off MF til the end of the night when our whole group could do it. we actually ran into the rest of then at Gemini...hit a bunch of other rides and Midway Market. good food, BAD service. i actually complained to the supervisor.
now onto Magnum Dan Jr...this kid put ME to shame!! rides with abandon, showing off his 48-inch wristband like a badge of honor. the ride ops on Maggie and Millie just loved him. there were times his father couldn't catch him before he ran up to the next platform. when *I* was 7, you couldn't get me NEAR a coaster....
nice air on a trimless Maggie...discoverd that for me, the middle of the last car is the money seat. something else new for us ths year.
Mantis seemed rather rough in the back to me, but that's ok, i love the hangtime the trim on the drop is giving in the loop. what's with all the harness resetting? both Mantis AND WT had a lot of that going on..WT mosly due to cheickening out of wussie riders.
ok on to MF for the final ride of the night. it was getting COLD too so we were DONE...the kid had a moment of doubt there but once he rode it, MAN was he HOOKED!! "AGAIN!! AGAIN!!" was the cry. the grin plastered on the little face was pretty cool too.
still no yellow train.
Monday...MF down AGAIN. go to breakfast to kill some time. get into park, see MF is still down. go to WT. Raptor Ralpher rides in back. i ride second from front. equally insane. run into rest of group.
head to MF and see that line is VERY long. get Freeway pass for 3-4 PM. wander park, hit smaller rides, go for Freeway ride. 22 minute wait at 3PM for MF. this ROCKS!! kid wants to go AGAIN!! so we say "nah the line is too long."... BUT Action 13 news is there interviewing someone about Markey's G-force limit proposal. we get the kid ON TV!! we think. we didn't actually SEE the broadcast...too busy marathoning a walk-on Maggie at 6PM..
LAST day...so if you've hung with me for this long...
get to Marina gate at 9:15. wait for Anthem. run to MF. YELLOW TRAIN ON TRACK!! wooohoooo!! get up to platform...NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE TOLOAD TRAIN!!
we wait. three sweetest words in English language are now "load this train". anither new thing for us...FIRST TRAIN OF THE DAY!! didn't think we were gonna make it over the Magnum hill...
get back to station, get to go through handicapped access to get back on yellow train...MUCH better. i could FEEL the heat coming from up between the cars. warmed up nicely. got 6 laps between 9:30 and 10:30. got a Freeway for 1-2 PM. turned out we didn't REALLY need it. line wss 20 minutes at 1:30...another D'OH!!
split off from rest of group for most of the day. hit Raptor...didn't notice the crack but i DID notice the lack of midcourse brakes and the sheer intensity.
hit Silver Dollar for lunch. yummy lake perch.
all in all a good trip...nice weather, good friends...lots of hard-core MF on Tuesday...
but for me it was the NEW things my BF and i got to do...
Swan Boats
the NEW, IMPROVED DT
wanting the trims BACK on Mean Squeak (yes, you heard me...too rough otherwise)...
Boathouse
Wicked Twister ('nuff said)
first train of the day on MF
NOT riding Maggie first thing, instead opting for WT...
lapel pins
initiating 5 MF and CP virgins into the fold...
what did we learn??
back car of Maggie ROCKS!
Blue Streak is better than ever.
the duck and goose population is exploding this year..
Gemini has the coolest train transfer platform i have EVER seen and it takes lots of lifeguards to help out..
the ride ops on Maggie are EXTRA funny this year.
the ops on MF REALLY like little kids who ride over and over and over...
and that CP really is our special vacation spot...
what more could a girl ask for??

At the turn of the Millenium......there were signs...
I was part of this trip. It was my second-ever excursion to CP. Can't add too much except that I got 14 laps in on Millennium Force on Tuesday alone. Near the end of the day, the faces in line become more and more familiar as the hard-cores are seperated from the one-timers.
Wicked Twister blows Vertical Velocity away. Perhaps it's not fair to compare the two, but that's my opinion.
Rode Iron Dragon for the first time. Yawn. The second half of the ride is alright.
Blue Streak was even more of a treat than it was last October. What a charming and beautiful ride.
Mean Streak is still Mean Streak.
Mantis' trims make the hang time in the loop such that I think we're still hanging there. Back seats. I didn't experience any roughness.
Rode Wild Cat for the first time. For the last time, too.
Disaster Transport is really fun with the new stuff. The only drawback was that the 3D glasses were sold out when we got in there. DOH!
Skipped Raptor altogether. I figured it best not to tempt fate. Although I DID load up on ammunition at the Midway Market, just in case: Cheesecake smothered in blueberry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Covered a whole dinner plate! That was dessert. Lunch took 3 trips to the buffett. They really don't make much from me . . .
Another fantastic trip to CP. The greatest amusement park in the whole world. I've been to some of the finest (Tragic Mountain, Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland, Six Flags over Texas, Six Flags over Mid-America, Six Flags Great America, others), but never have I had a better time than at Cedar Point. America's Rockin' Roller Coast!
heh heh heh
