I think the better place to ask this question is to call your supervisor tomorrow during normal business hours. Your supervisor's name and contact info is listed on your contract. Good Luck and make lot's of money!

I'm too sexy for my harness!

i intended to call the boss if this didnt get a reply. i didnt want to bug him if i didnt have to

While shaniapatches is right about being able to take the class once you get to CP, I'd agree with you that it would be better to get it out of the way ahead of time. Serv-safe food and alcohol tests are pretty much the standard in the food industry, so check out the website and take both if you can before you process in. I'm sure you can figure out what the website link is.

but cp offers a discounted rate to the classes, the servsafe and servsafe alchohol classes can cost a bit of money and since we have so many servers and supervisors required to take them they are cheaper to do through work.......the training you do online before you show up is for the company orientation

Are all servers at cp required to take both the food and the alcohol servsafe test, or is it just one of the two? I know that the servsafe online classes are 30$, I thought that was the price for the classroom test at cp as well, no?

Servers are required to take the alcohol class. Its 4 hours and it used to cost $30. Supervisors used to be required to take the food servsafe class. It costs more and takes 2 days. But you also get paid for your time in these classes, so it becomes a wash. I do know you can take the just the tests for a cheaper price to renew your certification when it's about to expire, but I wouldn't recommend it! Once again, I didn't work at CP last year, but I'm pretty sure most of this hasn't changed.

servers just have to take the alchohol portion......supervisors have to take regular and the supervisors who are in locations have to take both. the alchohol is still 30 but again you get paid for takin the class at cp

To add to shaniapatches' last post, it is required for all employees who work at locations that serve alcohol (Hurricane Hannah's, Red Garter, etc.) to take the Alcohol portion. For the supervisors, taking the regular ServSafe is part of the training for the education dept. In all, if you're only serving, you will only have to take the SS Alcohol. I also strongly recommend waiting until you get there to take it, Like it was said before, it's much cheaper, the information will be fresh in your mind, and you meet pretty cool people in the class as well. Besides, you probably won't be the only server from Famous Dave's in your class!
