Seeing some old friends

Got back from the Point after a much needed vacation. We left Indy on Wednesday, picked up my sister in Detroit who flew in from Milwaukee and headed down. Got there right around 6pm. Unloaded the car with the help of the Bell Hop and got our room at the Breakers.

We stayed on the 2nd floor over looking the pool. It was a pretty nice room. Two separate sleeping area's along with a common area. The bed's were nice along with everything being "Clean". I am a pretty tall guy, 6'4 along with my family being on the taller side. The shower head was WAY too short, lol. The common area had a nice couch along with a fridge that we stocked with stuff that was bought at the local Mejier in Sandusky.

For dinner, my sister and I took our dad out to Bay Harbor which while nice was pretty dead, you could tell it was the end of the season for sure. The food was great along with the service. For 3 of us it was $140 with tip, not to shabby I say.

Waking up on Thursday early to take advantage of the Early Entry was a great idea. We were standing in line right by Soak City and at about 9:15 they let us in but held us right under the Magnum. After hearing the National Anthem we walked, not ran back to Maverick. I noticed a couple of people Usian Bolt'ing it back and just laughed. Once at the Maverick it was a quick 5 minute wait.

Next I headed over to M/F to see if I could fit and if all of that working out/dieting helped over the last month. After reading about what train to ride and what seat to sit in the moment came. Was I going to fit? Before I entered the queue I sat in the test seat. I got the seat belt to buckle and I new I was in the clear!

Sis didn't want to ride and my dad is to big so I went on it alone. Headed through the queue and got to the station. I rode the "Red" train, about in the middle on the left hand side. I will say that, along with others. The test seat seatbelt is about 1 inch shorter than the actual seat.

After the ride I met up with my sister and dad and rode Iron Dragon. I think we took about 4 rides on this throughout the stay.

Gemini was rode 6 times throughout the stay. The only thing that sucked was that they weren't running blue cause there wasn't enough people in the park.

After another ride on Maverick and I had had it. They really need to change the harnesses on that ride. Both my sister and I got some really nasty buises from it. It’s great ride and I love it but man, those harnesses SUCK.

After a quick ride on Magnum in the back, which was a bad idea, lol. We went back to to the hotel for lunch.

We rode some more usually just doing stuff that we know that we liked and finished out our day.
The highlight came at the end of the night when after dinner I walked over to M/F for a night time ride in the back seat. The back of that ride is awesome going over the first hill. You probably get around 2 seconds of straight ejector seat. It’s a great feeling and a great view

The lines for many of the rides were under an hour. Most of them were walk up to the platform and wait a couple of trains. Nothing worth getting the Fast Lane for.

On Friday we slept in and decided to take it easy in the morning. It was hot out so I left a bit early and walked back over to M/F for a quick early morning ride. The line was maybe about 45min and again, rode in the back. Great way to start off a hot day.

Went back to the hotel and messed around mostly recovering from my 2 Maverick rides yesterday. We headed out to the DQ outside the park for some lunch around 2pm. The food is great and it’s much less than eating in the park.

After lunch we headed into the park again near Windseeker. That has got to be the best entrance into the park ever. It’s never busy and the older ladies are great! Anyways, my dad and I wanted to ride Raptor so I tried out the test seat. I fit but it was close. My dad on the other hand wasn’t even close, lol, damn old age. So I walked through the queue line and up to the platform. Waited one train and I was on. I usually sit in back cause I like the feeling of being yanked over the first hill. The only wait was for the first row and it was one train. The first 4 rows of my train were full then I was the only person in the last 4 rows, scary. That ride is still awesome even after all those years. I remember riding it when it came out.

After that it was back to Iron Dragon, Gemini and a ride on Magnum in the middle of the train.

Not having ridden Dragster in 6 years I wanted to give it another go. I fit in the test seat and the wait was 15min! Still a great ride, the sense of speed is amazing. Not sure if I would wait more than that but it’s still a great ride.

For dinner we had “Pinks” in the front of the park which was good but $$$. I don’t think it’s worth it for the price that you pay. Still good food though.

After another round of Raptor, Iron Dragon, M/F, Gemini and ending it on Magnum we were all beat. I don’t think I have ever ridden that much in two days ever, lol.

I’m glad that we didn’t buy Fast Lane cause Friday late afternoon till close was DEAD. Most rides were walk on’s or wait a couple of trains. The only rides that had any sort of wait’s were Maverick and M/F. I can see if you’re going on the weekend but pick days that you know aren’t going to be busy, hope for good weather and ride your heart out.

I had a great time with my sister and dad. I have been going to CP since 1985 and have pretty much ridden everything in the park so many times I can’t count.
There is still a bunch that i’m missing but it’s getting to long anyways.

The bottom line is that we had a great time, great weather and great rides. That’s all that matters in the end.
