Season pass renewal question

I plan on getting a regular season pass for 2009 and I have now a platinum pass. Can I renew my pass to get a regular pass? Or does it have to be the same type of pass?

You'd probably be better off calling the park to ask them. Unless Tony gets on here to answer it for you.

I have a question about that too. 2009 will be the first time I had to renew a pass. How does the process work, will I still need to wait in line like we did when we got our photos taken?

I am also wondering if they are going to offer a free gift! I love my jacket from this year! I am saving for my passes for next year!

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

Previously when you bought your renewal pass you could send it in during the off-season for processing. I think it was up to 3 years you can do that before you have to get a new picture at the park. As for getting just a regular pass renewal instead of a platinum, I would not see a problem in doing that considering you bought a pass the year before, but call to check though like JuggaLotus said.

I think that Stealthpirate is correct. I do not think it will be an issue. BTW, why would you not want a platinum pass? LOL

Peace, Mikey

I buy my passes thru the sister park -kings island. The reason is because

they are the first and last park i visit each season. I renew the pass from

the website and then take the pass certificate with me to the season

pass center. And within minutes, your pass is ready and the 2009

season is something to look forward to.

Platinum Passes are the only ones with free parking if I am correct.

I hope I can clarify for you and anyone else with questions on the new 2009 Season Passes.

This will likely be the last year that we issue "new" cards to Passholders, so here's how this works:

Right now, when you "renew," you are actually purchasing a "new" 2009 Season Pass, but we're offering it to you at a discounted price, depending on which type of Pass you have. We use the word "renew" because that's how most people understand it. So yes, you can "renew" or "downgrade" to a 2009 Season Pass from your 2008 Platinum Pass (you're just purchasing a new 2009 Season Pass).

To "renew," you'll buy your Pass ticket (used to be a voucher) now, and then during processing in the spring, you'll have to show your 2008 Pass. If you can't, you'll be charged an upgrade fee to cover the difference based on the spring price. The price of Season Passes right now is the cheapest it will be - ever. The discounted prices end on November 2.

Now, all Platinum Passes and Season Passes will be brand new cards issued in spring 2009. You'll be keeping these cards and can effectively "renew" the same card you have on you each year. No more new cards, no more trips to the Season Pass Center, no more processing. They will not be dated.

We're working on streamlining the Season Pass program - not only at Cedar Point, but all Cedar Fair parks. In 2009, we should have things pretty well set (I'm working on 2009 Platinum Passholder events and discounts right now).

So for an extra $10 ($150 vs $140) I can get my 2009 Platinum Pass and a 2008 Funday ticket? It's not to benefit me, but for Closing Weekend I'll be going with friends who do not have passes so they can just give my friend and I who will be getting 2009 passes the $10 difference to get those two tickets?

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

The free admission ticket is only valid for NEW 2009 Season and Platinum Passes (which means, if you're a 2008 Passholder, Regular or Platinum, you do not qualify for the free ticket).

Plus, it's only valid for the Passholder and it's only good the day you buy it (at the park, not online).

Tony - I saw this offer online for KI, but I haven't seen it for CPoint outside of here of a funday ticket for '08. I have a couple friends I'm encouraging to buy Platinum Passes for next year, they have no current passes. From your above note it looks like they can go to the Season Pass Office at CP on any upcoming Saturday or Sunday, buy the Platinum pass for '09, then have a 'free' ticket for that day.

If that's accurate, is that for both adult and Jr./Sr. passes???

You mention having to go in to turn our ticket into a pass in April. What about things like discount day passes to Castaway Bay? Will our '08 passes work until April - will we be able to use the tickets we receive?

If my work would take me to California early in '09 I would hope to visit Knott's Berry Farm - but I would have my '08 Platinum Pass until April.

Thank you for taking the time to explain!

If you buy your 09 voucher at CP before November 2 at the discount price you could renew your Platinum Pass at Knotts in early 09 if you went and then wouldn't have to at KI or CP in April or May.

How long are these cards supposed to last? My pass seems to fade by the end of each season (or at least the barcode).

If you have to prove you are a season pass holder to get your 2009 ticket why would you have to prove it again by bringing the 2008 pass with you to get the new one in the spring? Seems silly, or shady. It is not like the old info won't be in the computer system when you get there. Are they hoping people will lose the old one over the winter and then have to pay the upgrade price? Hang onto those old passes!

^ - Its probably to keep someone, who is a current passholder, from buying several "tickets" at the discounted price and then selling them or giving them to friends.

Tony, quick question. I bought my voucher at Cedar Point last fall, but redeemed at Michigan's Adventure (it was a convenience thing). I'll be at the park (hopefully) this weekend and (for sure) closing weekend. Can I get the renewal price of 140?

Thanks,

Goodbye MrScott

Let's answer a few questions.

The free ticket offer is valid for ANY 2009 Season Pass purchased (Platinum, Regular, Jr. or Sr.).

Discounts (at places like Castaway Bay) are only valid in the year your Pass is valid (2009 Platinum Passes are valid January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009).

So, you can't use your 2008 Platinum Pass for the Castaway Bay discount in February of 2009. However, you can present your 2009 voucher for the discount. We haven't yet finalized the discounts for 2009, including in the off-season.

maree.maree: The procedures are in place to prevent abuse until we are able to do annual renewals with the same card next fall. Everyone's patience is appreciated - we're gettin' there.

jugga: I'm in the process of getting an answer to your question.

As a general note, PLEASE PROCESS YOUR PASS AT THE SAME PARK YOU PURCHASED IT AT! If you are visiting a park that opens earlier than we do, bring your 2009 voucher - it will give you admission to the park without processing. All parks should be processing their own Season Passes. Obviously, this is for Platinum Passholders only.
