Season pass processing issue

Was talking to my dad this afternoon, he works for MT Business Technologies, which deals with the office equipment for most of Cedar Point. Apparently the park never buys any new office equipment for most departments. They buy it directly used, not re-furbished or anything. Could this possibly explain the lack of cameras for Season Passes? 4 cameras seems somewhat lacking, especially for the amount of sp holders..what do you think?

Most big companies lease that stuff. I'd bet CP does the same.

When you compare to virtually any other park (yeah, even Six Flags Waste of An Afternoon), CP's season pass operation just outright sucks. I've had to wait ridiculous amounts of time there. Compare to PKI, where I walk in, get my photo taken, and by the time I walk out the pass is there. That's the way it should be.

That's how it was at MiAdv, Jeff. I walked in, filled out some paperwork, got my pic taken and was done. Not a big deal at all.

Agreed, when asked to do a survey while processing yesterday I specifically noted how PKI does things. 30 cameras and you get your passes immediately.

The line I stood in for 45 mins yesterday would have been 5 at PKI.

I would have just sent it in and gotten a new pass with my old photo but my girlfriend and her brother were both getting passes for the first time and had to get their photo taken. Besides the fact that I enjoy having a new picture of me every year to see me over the years.

Regardless, the process at CP is abysmal. I don't know how a park can do so many things so amazingly well, yet be completely and utterly in the dark ages in one thing.

Just consider it a warm up for waiting in line this summer :).

Anyway... it was really bad how slow the line was. They had 4 cameras (not 3) but it will still really bad. And there wasn't much information about the 2 lines. A lot of people were waiting for the picture but had not gone to the casier yet.

The only thing worse than people who make grammar mistakes are the people who have to point it out every ****ing time.

Here's a question for you all. I rescheduled my trip for next weekend so I could be there Sat. to get my pass. Problem is I won't get there till 7 and I'm sure the line will be outrageous. Do you think the policy will be like the ride? If you are in line by 8 you get your pass? Or do you think they'll stop taking pictures at 8?

I got there on Thursday at 5:30 when the season pass center closed at 6. I waited in line for a while and didn't get my picture taken until 6:15, so as long as you're in line by closing time, you should get your pass. It's just like getting in a coaster line just before the park closes.

Thanks for the correction, I missed the fourth camera, but still, how easy would it be to expand the pass center to include more cameras? Especially for a big amusement park like Cedar Point?

Hmmm. We were planning to hit the Pass Center on Tuesday near its opening, on our way to Baltimore for my wife's med school reunion. However, with children aged four and two, I doubt that waiting in a longish line just to have our pictures taken will go over well. I guess we'll just have to see how busy it is.

Even dinky little SFMW had a good dozen cameras.

I am sure the season pass center won't be too bad during the week i am going tomorrow again, i will let everyone know who cares about how long it takes to get it done during the week can give some kind of estimate. today it was only about an hour in the nice sun, i actually got my pale pastey white skin some color! yay!

Besides the great rides and being the best of everything, the best part about Cedar Point is that it isn't Six Flags! YAY!

We were there today (Sunday) and got our Season Passes. Couldn't talk dh into Joe Cool Club, though.

It took about 45 minutes. By the time we left there was NO LINE (around 6:30).

I agree that the whole process is outdated. We had to go to the Cashier (yes, even if you buy certificates ahead of time), then the picture line, wait for the ID to be printed and brought outside to you, then to the parking booth to get a parking pass. Glad it's over!

Next year it's renewal by mail! Yay!!

BTW, Brian we had our three 3 year olds with us and they did fine. People were very understanding of one parent standing in line while the other one kept the kids entertained or even went back to the car (or van, in our case!). Don't know if you've gotten season passes before, but just so you know, your four year old will most likely be made to stand on a stepstool with a handle. I guess the cameras can't angle all the way down to their height...

I have a question. I was finally able to get a season pass this year. Living 3 and a half hours away from the park makes it difficult to get there enough times to make a season pass worth it when your parents won't let you drive there. Well, I have to go get it processed and my friend does too. We cannot do it any of the next few weekends, but we are going to the park May 28th, a Wednesday, because we will be done with school. When we get them processed do we have to wait to get them after our picture is taken before we get into the park or are we able to go ahead and get in with a slip or something and pick them up later in the day? I will also have a parking pass to get processed. Any suggestions on how I should do all of this and still be able to have a good amount of time in the park that day. From the way it sounds the season pass line will be horrid.

Why the hell do you need to go to the cashier first? What the hell is the point in buying certificates the year before then?

I haven't even processed the pass yet and I'm already pissed off and irritated about it.

PKI's system is ultra simple. Fill out the paperwork away from the window. Take the paperwork to cashier and pay for it. They staple barcode to paper. You go in and take picture (where they scan the thing, and enter your data later). By the time you're leaving the camera area your pass is done. With 30+ cameras and a ton of cashier windows open, it takes ten minutes tops, and that's when they're getting hammered with people.

You can only imagine the chaos that ensued from the cashier fiasco. There were signs, but none that coudl be seen until you were already in the wrong line.

When compared to any other park the system was truly abysmal.

Jeff, from what I could observe, the cashier had to initial your pre-purchased certificates. We waited at least an hour on Friday. I purposely didn't look at my watch(I didn't even want to know...). All that time wasted and TDD wasn't being launched either! No fair! :(

I took my sister down yesterday to get her pass processed and going to the cashier was pointless. We filled out one form while in line for the cashier which was the usual name, address, etc. We then got up to the window and the lady wrote the certificate number on the form, circled something, signed her name, and sent us to the other line after 30 seconds! We then waited well over an hour in the 2nd line. It is nuts. I hope they do something about it in the future. I cannot imagine what the line is like on opening day.

Maybe they should put a FreeWay line in to make the wait 'shorter.'

I agree, CP's season pass processing sucks. I don't think a suggestion using PKI as an example would hurt.

Saving $$$$. I do believe the certificates cost less when bought earlier or through AAA.
