Season Pass Pick-Up: 4-29-02

I have waited and waited anxiously for this special day to come! The school day seemed endless and my excitement grew strong as the last few classes of the day drew near. As soon as the bell rang, I rushed down the hall lost in the masses of teachers and kids, and out the door, where my parents were waiting to take me to my personal heaven....Cedar Point!

As we turned onto the causeway, I could feel all the past memories flooding back, as I stared up at the twisting metal and steel of America's greatest coasters. My parents kept saying how obsessed and stupid I was of Cedar Point, and always told me to "shut up" when I went into my little CP talks on the way down the causeway. Parents just don't understand..... :(

We were directed to the Season Pass Center by a very friendly toll-booth girl (definetly NOT Six Flags material), and I was SO excited! I got out of the car, and I wanted to sprint to get my all-summer ticket! I finally went up and recieved my parking pass, and my dad went back to the car with an employee so he could put it on the car. There was absolutly NO line for this pass, but as soon as I got in line, a big family of people were lined up! Good thing I got there when I did! After that, my mom and I went over to get my season pass. I waited about five minutes due to the cramped room of the center, and about 7 people were waiting. It was so cool to finally get my first season pass!

After that, I had some "alone time", as I walked slowly up to the main gate. I could hear the depressing offseason noises of hand-drills running somewhere, and gruff voices of some construction workers near the gate. Oldies music was playing from a lone parked truck parked near the gates, and not a sound from any ride or coaster could be heard....no people crowded on the midways, no screams of fear emitting from Raptor....nothing. The park seemed so dead and almost abandoned, but I knew that this would change in only a few weeks. I stood in the center of the entrance plaza, and looked through the metal shutters that closed off the park from the outside world. Many CP trucks were parked and driving around inside, and many workers were busy getting things ready for the 2002 season. I stood there in the cold air as I looked over at the new Wicked Twister, and WOW is it big! The webcams make it look so small in actual comparsion! As for rides running, like I mentioned, nothing was moving. But, I did notice the Power Tower cars stationed at the top part of the towers, as if they were stuck.....hmm....

As I left the plaza, and got back into the warm car, I looked back at Cedar Point with my season pass in hand. I just kept on rethinking the same thing over and over when we drove back down the lonely causeway...SEE YOU MAY 13TH!!!! :)

Great TR! I would experience something similar only if I were about 500 miles closer. I really should be happy with SFNE to my north and SFGADV to my south, but nothing compares to Cedar Point.

Fear the Mullet!

Yes, and there's two other ones to read. Only a few more days! :)

2002- Raptor Hot Shots
Force Laps: 424
Wicked Twists: ???

Haha, actually, I was thinking to myself that Midway Man did a pretty good job of making the TR (even if it's only about pass processing) interesting! :) I have to admit I enjoyed it. The season does need to start now and this week of school needs to be over!

Fear the Mullet!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt way. I can't take this much longer. A season pass renewel and I was getting more excited than I was when I went to get mine. Great TR though, very inspirational!

"WE HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE PRIZE WINNER"

Thanks a bunch for the compliments! Yeah, whenever I have a good trip report of CP, I get really dramatic and into it, I guess. :)

Come on off-season.......
