As we turned onto the causeway, I could feel all the past memories flooding back, as I stared up at the twisting metal and steel of America's greatest coasters. My parents kept saying how obsessed and stupid I was of Cedar Point, and always told me to "shut up" when I went into my little CP talks on the way down the causeway. Parents just don't understand..... :(
We were directed to the Season Pass Center by a very friendly toll-booth girl (definetly NOT Six Flags material), and I was SO excited! I got out of the car, and I wanted to sprint to get my all-summer ticket! I finally went up and recieved my parking pass, and my dad went back to the car with an employee so he could put it on the car. There was absolutly NO line for this pass, but as soon as I got in line, a big family of people were lined up! Good thing I got there when I did! After that, my mom and I went over to get my season pass. I waited about five minutes due to the cramped room of the center, and about 7 people were waiting. It was so cool to finally get my first season pass!
After that, I had some "alone time", as I walked slowly up to the main gate. I could hear the depressing offseason noises of hand-drills running somewhere, and gruff voices of some construction workers near the gate. Oldies music was playing from a lone parked truck parked near the gates, and not a sound from any ride or coaster could be heard....no people crowded on the midways, no screams of fear emitting from Raptor....nothing. The park seemed so dead and almost abandoned, but I knew that this would change in only a few weeks. I stood in the center of the entrance plaza, and looked through the metal shutters that closed off the park from the outside world. Many CP trucks were parked and driving around inside, and many workers were busy getting things ready for the 2002 season. I stood there in the cold air as I looked over at the new Wicked Twister, and WOW is it big! The webcams make it look so small in actual comparsion! As for rides running, like I mentioned, nothing was moving. But, I did notice the Power Tower cars stationed at the top part of the towers, as if they were stuck.....hmm....
As I left the plaza, and got back into the warm car, I looked back at Cedar Point with my season pass in hand. I just kept on rethinking the same thing over and over when we drove back down the lonely causeway...SEE YOU MAY 13TH!!!! :)
