$1000 to get to Florida or California? Are you flying First Class?

I'm with my family and hotels aren't cheap.

heh, I know people in CA, and my first trip out there airfare was $188. That was a cheap trip.

Ditch the family. They stink anyway.

I'd go east to Dorney, and then head for Six Flags Great Adventure. They have one of the best steel coaster collections in the country.

However, you can't drive accross PA without a stop at Knoebel's. Free admission, free parking, a couple of great woodies, and the best atmosphere of any park, anywhere.

I would go to dorney, but knotts stands right up there with CP.

Chaindog...I like your idea. This may sound naive, but I've honestly never heard of Knoebel's. Free admission??? Im looking it up online right now...

OK, I checked out the site, and it definitely looks like ot would be worth a stop to ride "Pheonix" and "Twister"...which looks amazing. :)

Thanks for the heads up...the trip is definitely starting to take shape. :)

If you really want the scoop on Knoebel's, head over to CoasterBuzz and look around. It's a traditional park that is revered by the major geeks - present company included.

Unless you have family up by Michigan's Adventure I have a hard time justifying going there for ONE coaster. Lets be honest if Shivering Timbers wasn't there would you even think about going there?

If I were going "for ONE coaster", I agree it wouldn't be worth it. But obviously Mr. Sinatra isn't much into waterparks.

Just wanted to say thanks for the ideas.

We'll be using our passes at Dorney for a couple days, and then meander over to Six Flags Great Adventure. I just hope El Toro is up and running by then!

Anyone been on Hydra?

Knoebels is an awesome awsome park. Hell they even have Fascination. :) There pizzas are awesome and both wood coasters are great. Did I mention that they have Fascination?

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Old CPer I'm 91 years old, you don't want to see me in a water park. :)

If you are looking for a drive I think that ValleyFair! is well worth it. They have got some good rides, a free water park, and some good coasters. They even have a Power Tower all though I don't think that you can compare it with the one at CP. The park may be a little small but it is a lot of fun and will prvide you with a great day.

I thought I would post this here since part of our trip is going to include SFGA

Today, on opening day, KK litteraly (This is not exagerated) broke every 2-3 launches! It's reliability was horrible! Get this; I was the sixth in line for front row when the ride opened; TOOK AN HOUR AND A HALF. People were constantly being taken on and off the ride, and it really did break every 5-10 mintues. KK was not running well at all today. The time I was there, it maybe launched only twenty times in 5 hours!

Great! How, after having an ENTIRE offseason to work on problems, can you have so much difficulty? Especially with TTD running, at the least, "fair to good" all season long last year. Ive been trolling the polls at gadv.com since we've never been there before, and if you think people on this website are disgruntled about TTD, well...you havent seen anything yet. KK is like the antichrist on that website.

Wow! So does that mean that all the complaints about Dragster, from here, have been like compliments compared to what KK has been generating?:)

TTD120, go to gadv.com and check them out. Its like Pointbuzz for SFGA (only dont expect the quality; you'll quickly appreciate this site and how its run).

I only go there since I know absolutely zero about Six Flags, or their parks, so Im getting ideas about how to plan our day. We're only going to be there one day, and at Dorney and the Wildwater Kingdom for the better part of a week.

Maybe its because of what happened last year, but yes, KK is put down collectively a lot more than TTD here.

And its performance on opening day only fanned the flames. Seriously, for Intamin and SF, what an horrible showing.
